the figure is if you don't have to do anything or have zero income coming in until you pass and you are projected to spend on xyz then... those figures would kind of make sense. but for people that live more of a spartan lifestyle you don't even need that much money probably half that amount. assuming your house is paid off already.

yeah if you are retired your yearly spending should be at 30k and below.

you'd be surprised many boomers haven't paid off their hosues. so their house related costs (mortgage, property tax, insurance, upkeep) they still probably going on trips and vacations they still eating out a lot probably they still spending shopping they still doing a lot of things pre retirement but with post retirement money.

i would say drug dealing would be suitable for them.

they are not going to downgrade their lifestyle.
2
your only way to mitigate this is you need to lower your idea of what you think your wants and needs are.
2
well just to guess a few things either they didn't pay off their house so mortgage, property tax, insurance, maintenance their cars upkeep. if they still have a nice car they have to pay medical care costs out of pocket if their medicaid or insurance can't cover it they still going on vacation trips they still shopping they still eating out just to guess.

@graywind4326 well i wasn't talking about rich rolks or people that had high income careers as all this talk of frugality would not really apply to those folks that are at the 1% range. i was just talking about the working schmoe or the middle class folks that made 5 figure range salaries for most of their working careers.
