  1. you just have to look at the us pre 1850.... i mean what's so shocking about that. actually every country in the world could directly trade with each other in their own currencies they just need to hammer out some kind of exchange rate how to settle and you know the standard 10 point plan for trade. and just repeat this with every country out there. and we know the easy thing was just use one currency since humans are lazy. but if we just look at how the us can sanction you and shut you off on a flick of a light switch... it's not a good idea to have one major reserve currency at least controlled by one country. if it was like a global earth unit or somethig where no one has control over... than that's a different story. but until that happens it's better for every country to deal directly with every other country directly. takes decades or more to build up but in the end a lot less headaches.
