if you were making $320,000 a year and you got your house say years ago when it was much cheaper than maybe. i've heard of boomer small business owners mention they make like you say $320,000 a year now but they got their house for say $100,000 decades ago and tore it down to rebuild it up from ground up and it cost them another $100,000 - $200,000.00 over the duration of construction... then that would make sense. but nowadays if you were to buy a multi million dollar house you can't pass the 5x threshold on leverage. so you make $320,000 you can't buy a house more than $1.5 million and $1.5 million can barely get you a 5 beddroom house much less a 7 bathroom house.
