just do the math whatever works for you. if you get $1800/yr of service and let's say you been a ups driver for 10 years you get $18,000 buyout. if you wait until they fire you or whatever layoff you get 6 months of UI which is really just 3 months worth of salary. in some cases you might be able to extend it or something but rule of thumb 6 months or 3 months full salary. so let's say if someone makes $100,000 a year you would get around $18,750 (after taxes) in UI benefits so i guess the buyout would only pay off if you have been with the company for over 10 years. anything less you might as well just take the UI benefits.
