well on the flip side they pushed the US and nato forces back to th 38th parallel by themselves... and fought to a standstill unil the armistice of 1953... let that sink in. a dirt poor country like china was able to hold the US and nato off by itself. the same US that defeated germany and japan in WW2.

well admiral nimitz would be amused they named a ship after him

the only way you could convince imperail japan to give up its course of war is you would need to go straight up to the emperor and show them page by page what happens through the entirety of the war and they lose. the emperror is the only one that wasn't b*tshit insane. because im thinking even if you go to the admiralty or the generals they may or may not believe it, it's just their pride is too big to accept anything else. only types like generals kuribayashi or admiral yamamoto would've been like i told you so. think about it war boils down to attrition at the most basic level. us has number to spare japan doesn't i think the war in china already would've been proof enough that the chinese even though they don't got your numbers of weapons or training or tech can still bog you down. look at the nazis in russia same thing.

it would be even better if ww2 japan got a modern day japan SDF battle group with carrier and everything

@LtZetarn noe he's not a us army graduate. yamamoto graduated from the japan version of annapolis. he graduated from their version of naval command college. he just spent some years in the US as a naval attache in washington dc. he travelled around and toured the us gain some insight. but that kind of insight would've helped. it's like in letters of iwo jima. where kuribayashi asked his generals do you know how many cars america makes in a year? and the generals were like no.

it would be intersting if china allied itself with the hiterl and japan was on the side of hte allies.

when in doubt always support the country

maybe there's a workaround who knows

uh... even back in ww2 you only land the troops and supplies on the beach when the beachhead and surrounding areas have been cleared. the famous D-day landings for example was a blunder. the shorre bombardments and aerial bombings were all off and missed. the only interest amphibious landings that were not a blunder in the sense where they expected siff resistance was iwo jima and okinawa. these were anticipated of a dug in opponent. now of ourse nowadays you would need to clear any missile launchers and artillery more inland with missiles and bombing runs

japanese people during ww2 (especially the ones that worked in intelligence) didn't speak english?
1
allies could win but they are not going to pay for it wih 1 million dead soldiers. it's a political suicide move in democratic countries
1
@newdogmodel3893 it required a lot of money and hours to develop it... Basically it you don't have that money to burn don't even bother
1
it's all about who sees the other side first and the first to spot the other side dictattes the course of battle. in the real timeline the US saw the japanese force first. and the us knew the japanese were coming. intelligence is very important. a lot of the older japanese folks are saying that losing ww2 is good and bad in some ways. japan has lost a big chunk of its cultural identity and national heritage. but they gained somethings like better economy, or better standard of living for the masses, technological improvements. so it's a trade off.
1
this time around not possible. china could go to toe to toe with japan or at least it would be close. not as lopsided like in ww2. that would be a epic clash a 2023 china vs a 2023 japan in a neutral area.
1
you're not factoring in weapons improvements and improvements since 1945.... if 1945 japan is to be having the same type of adjustment based on innovation it would be loaded with anti air guns, pill boxes, 18 inch gun emplacements, rockets, a fully intact air force, basically it's just riddled with guns/rockets all over.
1
it would be useless in this scenario and you would need to swap it with something
1
if you got helicopters for island hopping.. than use the bloody helicopters. the baots are good for unloading large vehicles/cargo. using boats to land troops on islands now takes too much time.
