Kong Yiji is the epitome of the intellectuals in the lower class. This character shows the psychological state and tragic end of such scholars. Lu Xun uses this character to illustrate the decadence of people educated by the imperial examination system and the tragedy of Chinese intellectuals in the late Qing Dynasty. this is the same parallel to the highly educated working /middle class folks in china today.... let's be real here. people aren't stupid. they know their place. if i have little to no education and i work as a coolie than I wouldn't shocked if i make little or if my life is tough becauee it all goes in hand in hand. but if you're like these people in china with highly advanced masters /graduate degrees well then you would qualify as a scholar like kong yiji and you would pretty much expect white collar work that pay a certain level to reflect your education. it's just common sense. come on bruh so either just tell the people straight up look you dweebs we have a clear caste system. ok it goes party members rank xyz here, then lower tier party members, then the lower tier provincial leaders, then city leaders, then your mid tier bureaurcrats, then military then police then the merchants, etc etc. or you go back to the real roots of the whole system which is there is no class and everyone is the same no one makes more than the other and every one is equal and equally impoverished.

the only thing they're afraid of is people not working. that is the only thing that can truly starve their paradigm.

they rob whomever the f they want. they're that powerful. think of the 19th century cops you read about in history in america and europe who would take bribes to allow street vendors to sell on the streets. same sh-t
