even going back to 1960 it was pretty sweet compared to today average family income in the 1960's was around $5,800. The tax rate back then was 20%, and minimum wage was $1.25/hour. The cost of a new car in the 1960's was around $2,500

i don't under stand so in kellogs pre 1957 workers worked 30 hours a week. ok so you are at work mon - fri for 6 hours a day and you get weekends off. but how is it that the wives were complaining that you're home all day? lets say you work from 9 to 3pm but you need one hour to commute back and forth. so 8 to 5 you're not there (1 hour break/lunch). then you come home and you go to bed around 10 pm. but wake up around 6 am. so you see each other for around 2 hours in the morning and you're only seeing each other at home for like 5-6 hours at night. so .... a whoping 7 hours a day together on the weekday and full day on sat/sun. that causes friction? really?
