  2. folks remember that the nature of the city itself gaurantees that there can never be affordable housing. it's a fininte space with no control over how many people can come or go. cities generally can't expand their borders. how many cities have you come across in your lifetimes announcing they're going to expand their city limits? so finite space and in some cases they're physically hemmed in from geographical barriers. population that keeps going up over time. zoning laws and permit red tape that keeps going up over time .... you have a perfect recipe for housing to never be affordable. you want no homelessness... get rid of all zoning/permit red tape and basically you have to spread out the population. everyone would need to live in small towns... the concept of the city.... is a failed experiment. but who am i kidding here there have always been homeless ness... it's that in the past eras people had no issue sleeping in a hayfield or sneaking on to someones farm and sleeping in a corner somewhere..
