  1. actually if you look in the past people had kids because they were their retirement plan... so really this is nothing new.

  2. i think michael mentioned this before for large swathes of humans ... you can pick one of the three you can have a family or retire or own a house. just one the higher up the income ladder you can pick 2 of the 3 and the highest income you can pick all 3 and then some for fun money. but for most people you get to pick one of the three. there's just not enough money to go around.
