  1. actually from what we can see is that you need to make at least $100,000 to afford to buy a home in a large chunk of the states in the US and in the HCOL states like new york or california or hawaii you need to make like $250,000 a year to afford a home so we're talking about minimum top 25% income percentile to afford a run of the mill home in the usa... that's pretty bad.
