  1. the myth/dream persists and is very hard to entirely kill off. to kill it off would basically require the veil to be totally pulled back.

  2. it may not be now but my prediction is that in another 100-200 years currency arbitrage using usd will not be possible anymore as most countries will have developed enough economically that their economies would be somewhere on par with the us standard of living that if you were to still do the location currency arbitrage you would not save any money at all.
