  2. hate it or like it doesn't hurt to have some gold. the only asset to have lasted thousands of years and retain some kind of value. can't say the same thing for any other asset class except for real estate.

  3. you do know how hard it is for the government to have a budget surplus? the 90s was one of those once in a life time opportunities of new industries and new growth that gave the government big revenue which doesn't come around too often. governments aren't in the business of shrinking their budgets once they got something going for them.
