Nixon bought La Casa Pacifica, he put out a brief statement saying he put $100,000 down and owed a $240,000 mortgage. so $340,000 in 1969 is no joke. this was when the average house in the usa cost around $25,000 at the time so in 2024 dollars that's $2.92 million dollars. so basically in todays dollars nixon could put down $860,000 deposit with $2 million dollar mortgage. so nixon was making bank at the time or something.
