  1. it may seem tragic but the mcdonald brothers were the ones that asked for 2.7 million cash to buy them out. ray had to borrow from several lenders to get the money to pay the brothers so in teh end the brothers each got $ 1million cash after taxes. that transaction costed Ray $18 million dollars after he was done paying off those loans with interest. the mcdonald brothers cared more about that cash buyout first royalty afterwards... it was icing on the cake for them. keep in mind to the mcdonald brothers they got all that money from just one fast food stand and their name.. i mean they walked away like bandits. i read after they sold the restaurant/name. they wanted to do a chain of low price motels like motel 6 but maurice was in bad health at the time so richard said if maurice retires he's retiring and that was that.
