  1. 1.) they're painting a narrative. oh look at these poor middle class people when in reality everything is cause and effect. cause and effect. these docs which are entertaining only talk about the symptom not the disease itself. and you're right you're worth whatever knowledge and skill you bring tothe table. im not necesssarily restricting to formal educaiton like a diploma. it's whatever specizliation you know. the easier it is to replace you than your value is going to be capped very low. 2.) americans used to be frugal... at least before the 20th century. henry ford was complaining of conspicuous consumption even back in his day which was the 1920s... O_O the only reason the ww2 generation was frugal by modern stnadards as a whole is because of their experiernces in teh great depression that was what made them the anomaly. other than that ever since industrialization americans on a whole liked to spend.
