well that's the thing.... the us relies heavily on air superiorty. if us doesn't have air superiority and our ground forces coudl be bombed by enemy bombers/fighters ... well that would be scary for our troops as our troops haven't been strafed or bombed since... you guess it. (ww2)

planet of the apes anyone
1
how about this china nad us settle it with a drink off contest.
1
@yeahnahyeah4113 lmao oh man that is not something i would want on my resume.
1
truman was exceptionally bright. you forget he was also an army man who fought in ww1 in the artillery. he was a colonel in the reserves. truman wanted to fight in ww2 but gen marshall (army chief of staff) personally denied his request as truman was... too old. he was brief by general omar bradley (then chairman of the joint chiefs) we all know the president makes decision based on his best advisors. so if any fault is to be dealt... it's bradley.
1
uh... how can us block china production? care to explain?
1
drones have made a total mockery of fighter planes.
1
better question... can we afford that? also do we have the manpower?
1
the entire us military including the IRR is already at 2.5 million... so you already got more than that righ now Active personnel 1,376,658 (ranked 3rd) Reserve personnel 799,500

actually even during ww2 during the final phase of the war in the pacific with word spreading that there might be a possibility of allied invasion of japan... a lot of soldiers/marines/sailors flat out stated that they would desert ("i know there's 2 fellow they won't be able to find., me , and the person they sent looking for me"). it was a forgone conclusion that invasion of japan would be infantryman's suicide. if anything japan fought under conditions that allied western militaries would've mutinied under.

i's not just seems possible with accuracy of such missiles it's a reallty. that's why carriers are always aware of where they're at and range of such missiles. carriers typically stay beyond missile range of top tier nations like china.
1
100... i can believe.. thousands... i doubt it.
1
uh what... we have higher industrial capacity than china ? oh well that's a shocker considering we import so much junk from them. for pete sakes.
1
yeah about that...
1
if you have to dip into IRR you are in some very deep sh*T
1
@adamyoung9132 you use every single tool you can but there are certain lines in which you cross where the situation is starting to be come unsalvagable.
1
yes we have the ability to launch a trans ocean warfare but at the same time you can see it coming. satellites anyone?
1
yeah it's called cutting corners. and lets get real here you will never see a national patriotism today like you did in ww2. because no one would be sneak attacking peral harbor now. also americans now are not like of old. 1960s vietnam draft dodgers anyone? and that was 50-60 years ago.
1
@fh5926 i would assume a lot of the folks that are discharged would not be too happy bout that.
1
don't hold your breath .
1
oh man tha would suck for those people.
1
that's assuming we have enough industrial cpacity for the military to convert to.
1
uh don't forget college deferments.
1
also that report was from 1993.
1
@ADHD55 9:55 CBO papers
1
with what industrial base? we couldn't even make enough face masks and PPE s for ourselves.. you think we can do all that now with a holllowed out indsutrial base?
1
if ww2 was battle of production we would fail big time now. it would take us god knows how low long to bring new plants online or shift existing plants for war produciton. sure we have more automation now but there are still tasks that require people to assemble. and as foxcon mentioned when they tried to build a plant over in wisconsin... you just can't find enough workers in america.
