As a dutch person myself, I think it is great that our state acknowledges the past and tries to make aments.
However, as a individual, I will never apologize for something I personaly haven't done.
I will also look with pride at how our small nation managed to make such a massive impact in the world, be it trough conquest, trade, or progressive stances.
Ignoring the past is bad, and so is cherry picking the things you like or dislike from it. But I refuse to be made to feel ashamed of my country and it's history.
My culture, my country, and it's history is something I cherrish, and think that shouldn't be shamed.
I know the past, and how our country's hands are by no means clean. However this is the case for litteraly every society on earth. I choose to accept it, acknowledge it, and not be ashamed of it.
The very fact that our country acknowledges the past, and chooses to right the wrongs, is just more reason to be proud of it.
