@AntonGudenus NATO was set up as an Imperialist alliance. The first world war was started by the Imperialist nations in a war to redivide the world. The USSR was invaded by 14 Imperialist powers including the US/UK when it signed a separate peace treaty with Germany. The fact that you were unable to draw in the wannabe capitalist of Russia is a lost opportunity for the NATO Imperialists. The original promise to the Soviet Union was no new NATO allies east of a united Germany. But like any other promise from the Imperialist it wasn't worth the paper it was written on.

A better question is how much longer will the NATO Imperialist allaince last. Will the French and German ruling classes want to invest in anymore NATO enterprises like the US war in Afghanistan? War fever in Europe can only lead to more and not less division among the current NATO partners.

Jaxon B. So did the NATO Imperialist just a few months ago for twenty years in Afghanistan killing over 100,000 and creating over a million refugees in one of the poorest countries on earth. .

For most of its existence it did nothing but play war games and serve as a way for the American Imperialists to threaten war with Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. It played no role in the end of the Stalinist regimes what so ever. However now it became an Alliance to serve US interests and bombing campaigns based on the false theory that the American Imperialist had won the cold war. Yugoslavia, Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan all became the new victims of the NATO Imperialist military allaince.

@dukebanerjee4710 The Warsaw Pact was set up after NATO. The US uses bombing, technology and mercenaries because it can not rely on its troops to prosecute its Imperialist wars of aggression. A large portion of the US population is tired of endless wars. A West Point Grad and Afghan Vet sported a Che Guevara shirt at his graduation. Anyone who thinks the US will defend their sovereignty is in for a rude surprise. In fact the US didn't even think Zalenskyy would stay in Ukraine. For the US this is a time to try and advance their interests at Moscow's expense. They want higher prices for Middle East Gas and Oil which the American Imperialist control at Europe's expense. The election of Donald Trump revealed deep disputes among the American ruling class on many fronts.

@dukebanerjee4710 Putin does not have the power of a Stalin and his regime is not immune to defeat at home by antiwar forces either. The US has used carpet bombing since WW2 as means of destroying infrastructure. Putin has dreams of grandeur as a new Russian CZAR. NATO like the EU serves no purpose but to advance Imperialist interests.

@dukebanerjee4710 Of course the US wants a regulated capitalist exploitation at home and abroad to proceed smoothly. That however is not possible. Since world capitalism has entered a deep crisis of its own making. You can't just shut down the worlds economy and not expect push back.

@dukebanerjee4710 NATO is under stress with Turkey and Greece not to mention NATO members Hungary and Romania. France recently called the UK a Vassal State of the US. The UK left the EU and like I said Germany will pay more for Gas and Oil if it buys from the US Middle East companies instead of Russia. The US was keen on getting the Nord stream two pipeline project killed.

@dukebanerjee4710 Social Democracy is failing as can bee seen in the latest crisis. They will go down just like before WW2. It's socialism in name only and Imperialism in reality. Volvo Trucks had no problem threatening to run scabs in the USA. Sanctions do nothing but breed warfare and misery for the populations which is why the US Imperialist have to talk about how it is hurting the rich. Of course as soon as war is over than the rich will have their property returned. Economic warfare proceeds real war. You don't halt war by supporting your own ruling class. The ruling capitalist class doesn't give a shit about Democracy when its interests are threatened. The American Stalinist found that out the hard way at the end of WW2. All the strike breaking they'd done for the Imperialist war effort was quickly forgotten as the were sent away for five years in prison.

@dukebanerjee4710 Ukraine is doing the fighting for its national independence not NATO. A wider war would only serve Imperialists interests. The road to victory over Putin is to expose his lies among the Russian people and the soldiers doing the fighting. To build solidarity with the people of Ukraine and to call for the defeat of Russia not to seek Imperialist intervention or demand economic sanctions on Russia. To demand that the Ukrainian government halt the attack on opposition political parties and Russian language rights. Only solidarity among working people across national borders and the defeat of Great Russian chauvinism can insure peace.

@dukebanerjee4710 Ukrainian people are not a puppet of NATO but Zelensjyy is looking more like a puppet of the Biden Administration begging for a No Fly zone. Part of the reason the US ended its war in Vietnam was the massive protests of over 100,000 in Washington, DC. Nixon was eventually driven from office the only President to ever resign after the self made Watergate scandal. My senior year in High School was ended early after National Guard troops fired on protesters at Kent State University killing four closing colleges and high schools across the USA. It was only after this event that I began to realize how corrupt and rotten capitalism and the two parties are.

@AntonGudenus The US leads the NATO Imperialist alliance and since Trump's election the US is no longer willing to pay all the bills for European Imperialism. They may be presenting a united front at Brussels but behind the scenes lots of squabbling is going on. The US didn't want that Russian pipeline taking their natural gas business. They want this war because of that. You think the French and German's are happy about that? The Ukrainians already had fighting in their Eastern Provinces and then they just provoked more in 2019 by passing a law indirectly outlawing Russian language and culture but not English or EU languages and laws outlawing Communist and NAZI symbols like West Germany in the 1950's.
