@Erosgates The author has a point in certain ways. The ideas involved are picked up and defended by a new class just as the initial ideas of Christianity were adopted by the Roman Empire to replace the older ideas of seperate Gods into mostly one god in different forms. The peasants were indoctrinated every week with the ideas that their rewards would come after life. As the new class of traders and merchants rose so too did the Protestant reformation. Calvinism in Switzerland, Anglicanism in England and Lutheranism in Germany. They would all emphasize the Protestant work ethic. The protestant Church became the meeting place for the new middle class who chose its preacher and would discuss issues and the meaning of the bible after the sermon. The workers create trade unions and this is where they can discuss their problems independently and freely. The initial ideas of communism came out of the old society and its thinkers only to spread among the industrial workers. Just as the initial ideas for capitalism originated in the old feudal society.

@mattm7798 Who are you kidding the USA only wants the educated people from foreign countries to save on the cost of education. That was Stalin and those who followed him that developed the idea that they could build socialism in one country without having to advance the revolution internationally. Fidel Castro made it clear that the construction of socialism was voluntary and the minority who wanted to leave for the empty promises of Imperialism could do so. The poorest and most backward nation in Europe created the second workers state in history because the capitalist nations of Europe were destroying each other in the first world war. Capitalism went from the most productive to the most destructive system in human history right up to 1945 with the dropping of two nuclear weapons on Japanese cities.

@xX_Pokeman_Xx The problems in the Soviet Union began with the defeat of the German Socialist Revolution in 1923. That was because the leaders of the Russian Revolution never thought of the revolution initially as more than a holding action in the broader world revolution. They had won the civil war in 1921 but needed to reconstruct the economy since war communism the simple requisitioning of everything was not an acceptable method especially for those who had received cash payments for food production on the land before the war. The land reform had broken up the nobles estates and made land to the tiller possible But why would the peasant want to produce more than what he needed to survive and why would they now not band together or sell to the highest bidder and to try obtain higher prices by stifling production?

@o2 McCarthy was a LIAR he was unable to ever prove a single state dept employee was a member of the Communist Party. He was useful in creating a climate of fear and destroying the lives of many who refused to bow down to the wichunt tactics being used by both parties. Eventually he went to far accusing the military officer corps of disloyalty. His tactics and methods were no different than those who followed Stalin or Hitler. Tell the biggest lies possible while promising to "Save the Nation" while making all those who disagree into criminals.

This shows what a shallow thinker this man actually is. In his whole list of source material I do NOT see the names Marx, Engles, Lenin, Trotsky, Castro or Guevara. Nor do I see the names James Cannon, Eugene Debs, or Farrell Dobbs. What he has is a list mostly of people who wrote ABOUT communists or communism and not much else. @mattm7798 Does the United States Government want unlimited immigration now that it claims to be the world leader? Cuba has never tried to seriously prevent anyone from leaving. The United States began serious political deportations and immigration limitations after the Russian revolution. The United States government launched two red scares against labor, socialist communist and anarchist leaders. May Day is celebrated world wide as a tribute to Anarchists martyrs of Haymarket Square and the fight for the 8 hour day. Eisenhower signed the Communist Control Act of 1954. The witch hunt was pushed back and political rights for all affirmed in Socialist Workers Party vs Attorney General. If we were so flawed you wouldn't need to invade other countries to bring Democracy. You wouldn't have the largest prison population in the world. Your the one with the flawed ideas of capitalist markets and bosses and bankers solving the world's problems. The fact is humanity has constantly been in wars and revolutions good and bad aspects since the beginning of the Capitalist Era about 500 years ago. Before that the differing cultures new next to nothing about each other.
