Communism failed in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe for precisely the reasons you say are necessary. Giving more and greater privileges to party officials, technocrats and the educated. The same is going to happen here because the workers and farmers will tire of being asked for more sacrifice just so the upper class can live in those big mansions with mega swimming pools that you think are so necessary. The motivation for becoming a doctor will be to save lives increase life expectancy and make the world better. The motivation to be an engineer or scientist will be to advance production and reduce labor time for everyone not just themselves and a few owners of everything. Anyone who thinks man is just an animal that needs to a carrot dangled in front of him and an occasional whipping will never be a socialist or understand socialism.

The chief reason for the military and police is to defend the Imperial Empire and its wealthy investors profit system. The profits and the tax paying come out of the exploitation of the working class. The national and state debt is owned by rich investors and the rich investors receive the principal and interest on that debt. The federal reserve bank is used to create inflation so that capital becomes more valuable while creating poverty for millions worldwide.

Any tax they pay is voluntary because they control the writing of tax laws through their legally and illegally corrupt politicians. You call the sales tax system fair and equal because Bill Gates pays the same sales tax on toilet tissue that I do. The lottery is another type of tax which is overwhelming paid by the poor and working class who hope for a big win. The rich don't pay because they have already won the game and make up a tiny minority anyway. Let's not forget all the property tax giveaways made by cities and town for the privilege of hosting a big companies plant or office building in the name of job creation and keeping jobs where they are. We pay for murder all the time it's called war and the US Empire spends plenty on it all over the world. Young working people pay with life, limb and empty promises of education just so companies as diverse as United Fruit and Exxon can rake in big profits. Your real goal is to create more poor people so your system can use them to lower the wages of all workers. To push women out of the workforce periodically and unexpectedly keeping their wages lower than men as another way to boost profits and profit rates.

The people with both the power and the reason for change are the working people. We are not the owners but we are the producers.   21. Look capitalist from any country lose the profits made by the workers in a factory when it is shut down with a strike. Maybe they can move production elsewhere and then maybe they can't but thats just another reason to build a real International union movement. As long as we play by the bosses rules regarding strikes and grievances we will keep losing. Let's say the workers shut down the GM Truck Plant in the US. What keeps them from adding a shift in Mexico moving them across the border and undercutting the strike here? You don't really believe the government won't come up with a reason (National Security AT&T need new trucks) to allow them across the border temporarily without a tariff? That's why our real allies are other workers and not some Patriotic US Boss. It is possible to go on strike and win as the recent West Virginia school workers strike did in a red state with right to work laws and a Republican governor and a majority of Republicans in the statehouse. In fact the rank and file insisted in remaining on strike until a bill was passed meeting all five demands. Since I don't know the details in your fathers case I can't speak to that.

  22. Volkswagen and Toyota build vehicles here because it more profitable to build them here than in Japan or Germany and ship them here. Plus the cost to disassemble and reassemble a plant elsewhere is not a trivial cost nor is building another plant elsewhere cheap or a guarantee they won't have a strike there. If a strike hits a foreign manufacture in the US you won't be worrying about the picket line being attacked by German or Japanese police or troops. In fact you will find that the cops and national guard for that state will be the first problem outside of negotiating with the company management.

  23. A lot of past teachers strikes have failed because they only involved one district and did not reach out to the community and school workers as whole. That and the sending of a whole contingent to Charleston and refusing to end the strike without a bill passed in the legislature is what made this strike both different and a win. The original AFL unions were called Internationals because they included both US and Canadian workers. I don't have any specific plans or ideas other than to say we need more International solidarity and cooperation. I no nothing about what's in the TPP and just a little about NAFTA. Mexican workers have an Union Federation as do many other countries.

Would you say slavery was wrong in ancient society? Afterall would have gotten to the wage labor system without slavery first? Tell me how that would have been possible? Maybe we can eliminate the need for wars and soldiers someday and maybe a medical technology will come along and we can eliminate 99.9999999999% of all abortions but we haven't yet achieved that possibility. Now you have to deal with the facts and possibilities as they present themselves today no matter how much you like or don't like the results. Write a law against abortions and you will get injured women coming into the Emergency room with self induced or botched illegal abortions. That's what happens in countries were its illegal now and it will start happening here again like it or not. You still have very severe laws against marijuana did it stop marijuana smoking? Or did it just add a lot more costs, more misery and provide a gateway to more dangerous illegal drugs? Why not go back to alcohol prohibition while we are at it? I enjoy a cold beer as much as anyone else.

All capital does is accumulate and demand a return on investment. Cuba has population of about 20 million in a world of 9 billion. 1/3 of all food eaten in the US comes from California. The small farmer is continually driven out of business. Here they continually push out dollars that create a continuous inflation to counter the need for the old fashion wage cut. Prices and the dollar value of property continues to rise while wages stagnate. They have also deliberately run an international trade deficit since 1973. The same year they closed the federal reserve banks intentional gold trade at $35 an ounce (Temporarily). They continually devalue the dollar to force other countries to do the same so they can sell here. They say this helps with capital formation. So yes I need to understand more about international trade. But economics of capitalism is driven not by supply and demand but the goal of profit maximization.expressed by rising shareholder value or the payout of dividends. The Wall street hedge fund manager is little more than an agent for a betting parlor.
