The unions need to organize more of us because strength comes with size and unity.

Capitalists always seek to cut wages to save their profits and profit system. They can move where ever but the world is only so big and the always create more industrial workers. We are an international class while the capitalist are a divided one of different nationalities competing with each other.
2
@cmb9059 As long as we have capitalism when you do win higher wages it is only temporary since the bosses always seek to reintroduce competition after a winning strike. If you leave those WalMart and other warehouses unorganized then that puts pressure upon companies that pay union wages to reverse what you've won on the picket line.
2
The unions need to be organizing a bigger fightback.
2
@AW-nz4gl Unless he wants to vote Socialist Workers Party what difference does it make to favor one of the two boss parties over another?
2
Well maybe they should turn the UAW into a real International Union.

@MAGA COUNTRY The problems of white collar workers are not the same as those of us who work in a trade or are industrial workers. A bank teller doesn't get dirty, risk falling into a machine or off a ladder. The same goes for salesman. Why would Real Estate bosses want to join a union and why would the AFL-CIO want them? Textile bosses moved most production out of New England to escape the unions to the south and later out of the country. Logistics? Their are still plenty of Teamsters and single owner operators who want to join a union.
2
@Randy2747 Most of the opposition to unions comes from the bosses and the college educated white collar employees. All of the bosses see a bigger profit bonus at Christmas time and the white collar, HR and secretaries think of themselves as "smarter" even if the make an equal or even lower salary. Nothing enrages a secretary to the CEO more than a union janitor getting a bigger paycheck.
2
There are whole companies devoted to keeping unions out by any means possible including armies of scabs ready for strikes and propagandists devoted to scaring workers out of voting union.

@1Lyricalbeauty I'm not a member of your local so I am trying to tell you what to do. This is something I might consider doing. My guess is your contract has a no strike no lockout clause. Since this sounds like a lock out to me i'd get together a group of co workers and ask the local officials why your being locked out and are you going to get your regular pay. Then if I felt that I did get a good answer I would get together with your friends and picket the plant. After all GM is going to need parts once the assembly strike is over and if your locked out they can't claim it's a wildcat strike. This nothing more than the bosses trying to punish you for GM's greed.

Go!! UAW GO!! Show them Union strike power!!!

@manuelper Thank you for the complement Professor Mr. Poison Ivy league graduate boss.
1
@bushelfoot Ya and the Bosses crying poverty again.
1
Martin Balber You bosses just can't keep from getting more and more greedy which provokes the class struggle. Class struggle is the motive force of history. It is the American workers who will finally put the last Capitalist Imperialist Empire in its grave.
1
@thesldsnk I'd love to see a Boss riding around in a bare galvanized sheet metal Lincoln or Cadillac.
1
Martin Balber I didn't realize a GM strike was one step away from the second coming of Joe Stalin.
1
Martin Balber I'm not looking for sympathy from Professors at Posion Ivy league elite universities like yourself.
1
Martin Balber Ok Professor Blaber now you know there is a difference between Lenin and Stalin.
1
Martin Balber Naturally they locate where they think they can make the biggest profits. They'd locate the plant in antarctica or the Amazon jungle if they could get lower wages to justify higher shipping, tariffs and have a working class willing to work and live there. Apparently you are the one who doesn't understand how capitalism works.
1
@MAGA COUNTRY There is no such thing as an American job. Any job that can be done here can be done elsewhere with the exceptions like tropical fruit and mining. Consumers have almost no effect on capitalism because marketplace equality is the way goods are sold. Bill Gate will pay the same amount of money for a roll of toilet paper at WalMart that you, I and everyone else pays. Unions can change that because the profits come from out labor and the bosses can't just up the price to pay higher wages. Hardly irrelevant it's the unions who can actually change things not the election of legally and illegally corrupt two party politicians.
1
@MAGA COUNTRY The capitalist don't want wages rising because they cut into profits. When wages do rise its most likely because profits are rising faster. They had a wage but not a price freeze during WW2 because they had so little unemployment due to the war production. Workers had to have ration books just to buy the basics of life.
1
Organized labor will be a minority until the majority joins. You can start organizing now if you like. How long should we wait for your full employment economy? Until the ruling classes of the US and China decide to go to war over trade? Like FDR's War Deal? Or some other world war develops?
1
@MAGA COUNTRY Great economy for who? In the next world war if it happens will be a nuclear war with ICBM's. It won't be a war where geography protects the lower 48. If the US isn't an Empire why does it have all these military commands like the Northern Command, African command, Southern Command, Central Command, ect?
1
You have it backwards. Trump and Congress don't control GM. GM controls Trump and Congress.
1
@steelzmb4262 Thank him for what? For being the first former union president to be elected US President who fired all the striking PATCO workers? He ought to be remembered as the biggest scab to ever infect the labor movement with Bill Clinton running as a close second.
1
My Silverado is not a Mexican edition like the crew cab's. We need to help workers in other countries raise their standard of living. That's the only way to deal with the way the world is divided now.
1
@bushelfoot Well than why do you even bother posting if "We don't need to do anything..." You happy with the way things are so then you need to do nothing except convince others to do nothing which I guess is you point.
1
T J B You also have to ask who really owns the suppliers. The reason they use suppliers instead of the Henry Ford model of a vertical monopoly for Iron ore and coal to River Rouge, and then to final assemble and sales to a independent dealer. Is so they can shift profits around to get the greatest overall return on investment. Its something like Walmart there are only so many buyers so the can strong arm suppliers or at least that's what they want you to think.
1
@1Lyricalbeauty The biggest thing that will send workers across a picket line is hunger. To counter that without a strike fund can be to set up a common kitchen at union headquarters to feed the strikers and their families with donations form other unions and union supporters.
1
@OfMiceAndMegabytes Computer repair? With a two hundred dollar computer who can make any money repairing one? Trades are always having new stuff cut installation and repair time.
1
@williamroyer4669 The economy collapsed because of Capitalist greed Bush was no more responsible than Clinton or any other of the capitalist politicians. You can't fix a system that breeds war and depression with the cut back medicine prescribed by the two parties.
1
Ya well that's at least about 500 years from now.
