  3. It not free anymore than public roads are. Does the government take out pothole insurance? How about public schools? Is education free for your children? The real problem is how to pay for it. Tax is not a word businessmen like to hear. The productive private sector always has to pay for the other costs because some things can't be sold at a profit. College education is expensive but you don't see the Ivy League listed on the stock market. So should we have a crazy quilt of ways to pay depending upon fault (VA, Workman's comp), age, disability, and employment? Naturally a cost paid by individuals or families is rationing at a price point that you can not pay. How many people will be at the doctors seeking extra treatment? If you were giving out candy bars people would hoard them if there was a limited number and they could sell them on a black market. Sure some people might try and get ahold of narcotics or a drug that cold be sold for big money elsewhere.

  4. The US has a crazy system even when you are eligible for medicare sometimes you are charged sometimes your not and no way to know what the charge will be until you receive the bill. Some states provide more services than others sometimes you are eligible sometimes you aren't. Usually once you pay that its good luck with getting a refund. Don't pay and you can forget about getting any credit. I'm glad I'm old and don't have children. Oh yes and then you can give away you medicare to a private insurer so then they have a different system of payments and Doctors who will treat you. Medicare sends out statements of charges letting you know why you and they and others paid and tells you this is not a bill but to be on the lookout for overbilling and fraud.

That's another thing medicare premiums are deducted out of your social security check and depending on the state the state may pay your premium to social security and if your name was misspelled it could take three years to get it straightened out because the state keep telling you it will becoming and social security will tell you it's not our problem.
