@Glaaki13 Tankie refers to the Soviet Stalinist who crushed workers uprisings after Stalin's death in 1953. These uprisings occurred in 1953, 1956 and 1968. Now its used a slur with no real meaning anymore.

Tankies refers to the CP of Great Britain a slavishly Stalinist Party like the CPUSA came about after the Soviet Union in 1968 set in tanks to crush the Prague Spring. It was basically a taunt raised by the British Labor Imperialists.

@Glaaki13 Considering that the British Labor Party sent tanks to Iraq it is a quite meaningless slur. Something like calling everyone you don't like a fascist or calling the NAZI Party real left socialism. "The Militant" has been published since 1928 and covered the crimes of Stalin as they happened.

@zesky6654 Depends on which Anarchist you are talking about. After all they served as Ministers in the Spanish Republican government which along with the Stalinist in the CP crush the revolution by force of arms against the working class opening the door to Franco's victory.

@davidfetter The Bolsheviks had the majority in the St Petersburg Soviet when Kerensky was negotiating with the counter revolutionary General Kornilov. Most of the minority opposition walked out after Trotsky's resolution prompting the him to remark go and walk into the dustbin of history.

@ParkrosePermaculture People like you also like to throw around the term fascist at those you don't like just like another almost meaning less term free markets. Fascist refers to a counter revolutionary movement that came to power when the workers movement failed to take power in a socialist revolution. Free Market was originally a term invented by Adam Smith to describe the competition in markets with buying and selling of commodities for money. Today markets are highly controlled and regulated to insure profits go to the incumbent owners of capital.

College educated people like yourself are part of the problem NOT the solution. Authoritarian is another example its rooted in the word author which means someone who runs things by the book. The NAZI's also did this by taking the name National Socialist German Workers Party when they chief members were the non Jewish Petti bourgeois and declassed petty criminals. It was anti Marxist to the core yet today once again Capitalist libertarians are calling the NAZI Left Socialists. @paulsmart4672 Like it or not Stalin and the bureaucrats paid themselves a wage or salary they did not own the means of production. With the end of the Warsaw Pact nations and the Soviet Union the bureaucrats with advice from western politicians and businessmen transformed themselves into the new capitalists with shock therapy. A similar course was carried out in China were the bureaucrats maintained their Party organization.

@paulsmart4672 It was still a different system. Stalin and the bureaucrats feared the original leaders of the revolution after Lenin died. That's why they falsified history and tried the wipe out the left opposition and any opposition what so ever. The were weak not strong which is why they were easily defeated by mass protest in about 50 years.
