@sithsquid1 Sure lock up a bunch of extra people with 3 strikes laws and other BS because then we can be safe from ourselves. Crime, homelessness and drug addition are all social problems the result of a system that has no place for a large portion of the population that can't make some rich one percenters like Anderson Cooper and Tucker Carlson a tidy profit. Capitalism can no longer do anything but make things worse for the working class.

@blakebrown7794 This is the result of a system that puts profits of the rich ahead of all other considerations. As long as we are willing to allow them to control everything than we will get the wrong people put in jail and more common crime. You can't lock up El Chapo and let Big Pharma skate from the opium crisis with fines.

Ya right by who? They other party I suppose? Are you really that naive?

@whiskybooze If he raise bail than he needs a bigger jail and more taxes to pay for it. The bail bondman than loses out on a swell racket also. If one judge is setting bail low another is setting it high.

@oldladyfish Its the way the system works. Its makes no difference which of the two parties are in power or how many people the lock up. The number of people locked up or under state supervision now exceeds even the worst years of the Stalin regime. Capitalism no longer works for anyone but a few one percenter's. They provide the option of having more or less of your neighbors being locked up after the system fails them. It's a system that puts all responsibility for social problems on the individual person. If you lose you job go find a new one, if your sick than expect a big bill and to be fleeced by crooked Dr's., if a natural disaster happens your on your own, don't expect any help from the government because they've got other priorities like spending 2.3 trillion on the war in Afghanistan.

I 'm from New England and the few farms in my small town are all gone now except for one self picking strawberry farm. All kinds of agriculture is gone from New England from Dairy farms to Apple orchards. The same goes for all the union shops that once had so many workers the road was blocked when they ended work for the day. Mostly middle class people live there now. All the new homes are big. The Democrats have controlled the Southern New England States because the old Yankee Republicans were ousted by ethnic voters and labor in the cities. Jet Engine mfg remains big in Connecticut at Pratt & Whitney and GE in Massachusetts plus lots of sub contractors. Computer Mfg disappeared along with most textiles. They have moved work for lower wages elsewhere and replaced lots of labor with new machines. That is the natural way capitalism works. They have no loyalty to any one group of workers. When wages get to high for light industry its the first to move elsewhere. The US makes more steel today than any time in history but most is produced with much lower wages than the union wages that were paid in the big mills. I made the about the same rate as an unskilled mill hand at Beth Steel in Sparrows Point, Md in 1976 as minimum wage today. They closed and bulldozed the whole complex replacing it with an Amazon warehouse. They made steel and ships there for over one hundred years.

@oldladyfish Well I'm wrong on more than anytime in history since the highest time was 2008. Plus China isn't even on the radar for steel imports. Brazil, Mexico and Canada are the biggest exporters to the US market. China is not even on the radar except at number 5 for the products you mention.

@Nunyabusiness1331 What do you want anyhow half the country hold the other half in chains. We've already got more people in prison than the worst years of the Stalin regime.
1
@tapperjames48 As long as you have a system where some have all and other are denied you'll have crime. The shortages necessary for the markets system to "work" guarantee that.

@secretbassrigs The Chinese love Stalin so a China bot would have no criticism of the Great Leader and friend of Mao the Great Helmsman. China is capitalism with Chinese characteristics.
