@violinhunter2 King George had his own kind of idiocy. He wanted to revoke previous charters that allowed self rule. He wanted to collect taxes from crown colonies governed from London. He refused to allow the importation of money. American coins had to be secretly minted with dates from the English commonwealth. All newspapers required a crown approval and a stamp tax. The crown issued general warrants to search for whatever and wherever they wanted. The quartered soldiers in homes without permission. Most of the first ten amendments to the American Constitution are reactions reflecting the abuses experienced by the colonists in the time of King George III. The federalists said the federal government would be limited in powers to those enumerated in the Federal Constitution. The anti federalist wanted the Bill of Rights (the first ten amendments) to limit federal power.

@rickenbacker315 This is the result of boss profit maximization polices. Bosses want to set the price and the wage they pay. They want the longest hours for the lowest pay. A strike is what they deserve no Strike breaking by Congress let cut them cut the pay of Bosses like Warren Buffet of BNSF who brags about paying less taxes than his Secretary. Buffet drives a desk for a few billion a year. His big safety hazard is paper cuts from reading the Wall Street Journal.

Bosses are the ones who need to sacrifice their record making profits. No buying politicians and using the government as a strike breaking apparatus.
2
@stevang4720 Repeal the Railway "slave" Labor Act. No strikebreaking by Congress or the President.
2
@stevang4720 If bosses could just raise prices they wouldn't fight against wage increases or cuts weekly hours. Bosses seek to maximize profits. That;s why the want the most work in longest hours at the lowest pay.
2
@ackers5861 Repeal the Railway "slave" Labor Act. If the bosses want a strike then give them a strike no using Congress as a strike breakers.
2
@jamesryan4618 Leon Trotsky advised the leaders of the 1934 Minneapolis Teamsters General Strike that paved the way for the creation of the Teamsters as a powerful industrial union

Smarten up and stop acting as a plumbing fool for big business. "Abolish Private Property" The property used to exploit others. Personal property only losses it's social character.

@TROLLBUSTER12 Repeal the Railway "slave" labor act. Let the bosses take a strike without protection from the politicians.

@jgdecaro1 Unfortunately there were no railroads or rail road workers in biblical times. So the bible is completely irrelevant.
1
@GM6.7 Cuts don't need to be made instead profits need to be sacrificed rather than companies being bailed out. cut the salvers and profits off the top first. Warren Buffet owner of BNSF brags about paying less taxes than his secretary. He drives a desk for a few billion a year. Everyone gets old including YOU John Henry.

@comradeeverclear4063 Large numbers of people are NOT Christians and Christians themselves don't agree on even who or what their Gpd is. It's ideas are limited by the culture of the people who wrote the bible. That's why it isn't the answer to every question. Its why people waving Mao's little red book (quotes from Chairmen Mao)are no different than those who thump bibles and insist the answers to everything can be found in the bible. Christians are divided upon the meaning of the bible and how to interpreter it. The Pope had Galileo placed under house arrest for his arguments in favor of a heliocentric world vs an earth centered model.

@comradeeverclear4063 The railroad changed the way prople think about and use time. Before the Railroad every place had its own time based upon where the sun was in the sky. With the coming of the railroad a new system of time was required and thats is we have two kinds of time local time and universal time. Local time is the same within a time zone where as Universal time is the same worldwide.

@GM6.7 His issisable demands for maximizing profits and shareholder value are the reasons we have crisis of overproduction. More being produced than can be sold for a profit. His risk is limited to paper cuts and having to find a job.if he loses all his wealth. Which most of us couldn't spend in a lifetime. Let him sleep on the floor of a homeless shelter and eat cat food like many of the elderly. We aren't saving capitalism just so you can have a few privileges of being young and healthy. We aren't interested in saving a system that has become an obstacle to trade and production. Like I said earlier if capital could produce without labor than a perpetual motion machine would be possible. All Buffet does is place bets on profitability which is why many call their companies hedge funds. The try and bet on what will make the biggest profits. Then they use the state power to make sure that they can be compensated when they become too big to fail. They create massive piles of debt from upon which they demand even more. The workers produce the bosses manage and their system of profit maximization which requires shut downs and speed up is what needs to go. Capitalism fails because its based upon profit maximization for a wealth ruling class by any means. Just as slavery stood in the way of capitalism and the system of wage labor. Capitalism, profit maximization and private poverty of the ruling class stands in the way of the forces of production. It took the force of arms and revolution to get rid of chattel slavery and it will take the same from the working class to assert itself and rights to make a living over the do nothing idiots of finance capital.

Rail bosses are maximizing profits by demanding the most work at the lowest wages and the longest hours.
1
@williamhague2768 Railroad is run into the ground because the bosses seek to maximize profits despite the falling rate of profit caused by replacing labor with capital. That's is why capitalism comes to an end. It becomes nothing more than the accumulation of capital which demands a return on investment. For if capital could produce than the building of a perpetual motion machine would be possible.
1
@williamhague2768 You can argue what you like but my opinion is backed up by empirical evidence. I don't tell businesses to maximize profits and shareholder value but they do it in order to compete for investment. Milton Freedman says that's what they should do also. A business that tries going against the grain on that issue will end up out of business unless it has some kind of special reason for existence. Supposedly it is done within a legal framework but what is a legal framework in capitalist societal but the use of the state to settle all disputes involving private property in the favor of private property. The right to strike is protected by the 14th and 1st amendments to the Federal Constitution. Congress has no right to interfere in union activity or to order strikers back to work after a strike has been called.
1
The problem is that Bill Gates and others don't have any intelligence of their own. This is why the bosses talk about the need for artificial intelligence.
1
Wage increases for production workers always come first out of profits. Since wages are set from the bottom up not the top down. The bosses only hire production workers if they can make a profit from our labor. Salaried are an overhead cost and bonuses come from end of year profits.
1
@delorestaylor8114 Repeal the Railway "slave" Labor Act. No strikebreaking by Congress or the President.
1
@GM6.7 Profit is what they have after paying all expenses it comes from the unpaid labor of the production workers. Shareholders will have to expect less after all they don't do anything but own stock and vote for the board of directors. They aren't guaranteed a profit anymore than any other business. They have bankruptcy court for businesses that can't make a profit.
1
@GM6.7 You pushed to the brink by the workings of your own profit system because as machines replace labor the capital value rises but the source of the profit our labor goes down for the same output as the prices slump towards the cost of production. So the rate of profit by which you judge all success naturally declines. Years ago you issued strike provoking wage cuts until Kenyes advised the British capitalist to use a central bank and government spending along with monetary policy to rob the working class with inflation instead of wage cuts. Now you "Keniysians" (We are all Kenysians R.M. Nixon) Want to be Libertarians where you cry about the oppression of your own government policys. Too bad you never read Das Kapital you might actually understand why you system has to come to an end. Capital ca only accumulate and demand a return because otherwise the building of a perpetual motion machine would be possible. All the theories about capital producing without labor are therefore wrong. Wall Street is nothing more than a giant gambling casino which serves absolutely little productive purpose at all.
1
@GM6.7 You class has to be removed from power for the same reason King Charles was you become a greedy ruling class that stands in the way of human development going around the world destroying in the name of profit. Just as the king was destroying England in the name of taxes. The English made the mistake of letting the monarchy back in power. The American's didn't make that mistake. The Russians made the mistake of not getting rid of Stalin when Lenin wanted him out. Fidel Castro and the 26th of July movement didn't make that mistake. That's why the Cuban revolution continues despite all the US slanders, prediction of failure and the US Blockade. In Cuba the workers and Farmer are in power with a state that represents our class interests. With its advances in healthcare and education it's example is admired worldwide. You can't help following the path of Milton Freedman into decline by chasing profits and shareholder value above all else.
1
@GM6.7 Okay John Henry. Your going to old like everyone else does and then you won't be competitive. Doesn't matter if you like or don't like the collective. Your human and have no choice in the matter. Human's engage in social labor to make a life for ourselves. That's been true since the first people walked the earth 100,000 years ago. Capitalism always works to replace higher paid skilled labor with machines and unskilled labor. Marx has advised us to cut the cost of labor privileged with education. Where as for capitalism education like healthcare is an overhead expense to be minimized. It's your choice to be short sighted and pig headed. See how happy that makes you. Unions defend our class from exploitation as does the state power in revolutionary Cuba. The price of labor with capitalism is always limited by its cost of reproduction. Wages stagnate because as I said earlier the natural workings of the system require industry to cut labor coasts to drive profits their way. So they replace higher paid skilled labor with unskilled labor and machines first. This is why whole trades have all but disappeared in construction. like painters and plasters. The same is true with the railroads, telephone and the steel industry. Millions thrown out of work and their homes because of overproduction. Too much produced for a market with no buyers.
