Eugene Debs of the Socialist Party ran against him from his federal prison cell and recived a million votes. In 1940 FDR sent Hoovers spies to enforce the Smith "gag" Act against the Socialist Workers Party and the Minneapolis Teamsters Union. This result in the famous trial testimony of Jim Cannon in "Socialism on Trial" Stll published and sold today. Because of our support for Trotsky the Communist Party said we should be locked and we were falsely slandered as being fascists. The CP would find themselves doing five year stretches once the honeymoon with Stalin, Churchill and FDR was over and the cold war began. This is why we oppose the witch hunt against Trump. The first is the most important amendment because without it the second becomes absolutely meaningless. Push back at Democratic Party hypocrisy in it's war on Trump. Protest the witch hunt and fame up methods of the Democratic Party prosecutors.
