@danieltitus26 I disagree. First a flag hurts nobody and if the government bans it its because of some ulterior motive. Like wanting to look clean when they're dirty.

@arbitraryimagines As you can see I have my hammer and sickle flag. If I tell you I fly it for the heritage of the early Soviet Union when Lenin and Trotsky were clearly the leaders and not Stalin what would you say?
6
@chaboi7 Its better to have them out in the open with their flags then sitting in a basement brewing up another bomb.

@shittyopinions Every state but South Carolina provided caucasian Union regiments. The South was unable to sell cotton with the exception of a few blockade runners and no other country officially recognized the Jeff Davis government. Most of the war was fought in Virginia and the southern states. The southern soldiers did not like digging trenches protesting that that was the work of slaves. The lack of food for Lee's troops resulted in indiscipline and soldiers raiding farms for food. Logistics was a nightmare they had to have troops on trains just to prevent looting of food.

@shittyopinions Slavery in the south was replaced by the sharecropper/tenant farmer system with long contracts. This was latter supplemented with the state contracted prison labor system. New criminal laws for vagrancy and loitering with harsh sentences were used as a way to get around the 13th Amendment and provide the capitalist owners of coal mines and factories with cheap labor contracted out by the state.

@a.bismail6492 I see the flag as a symbol of slavery and segregation because those were the people who made the greatest use of that flag.

@Brennus of Gaul It cost Soviet Union about 26 million lives to defeat Hitler. The US based their Vietnam war time strategy on kill ratios and total killed (about 2 million of about 14 million Vietnamese). The goal being to kill faster than replacements could be trained. Since they lost in Vietnam its all about deriving the biggest numbers possible for their Human Rights campaigns to make the ugly face of US Imperialism look good. In the case of Cuba The Black book of communism decided to just create numbers apparently because the CIA figures were to low. Do the Imperialist ever talk about how it took 20,000 lives to get rid of their dictator General Batista? The new Soviet Union was the first power to sign a peace treaty during WW1. Exposing the wars real aim through documentation of secret treaties not a "war to end wars" or for "Democracy" but to redivided the world amongst the Imperialist nations. Have you come up with a figure for the number of lives saved by the the early end of WW1? How many American lives would have been lost had the Soviet Union not defeated Hitler at Stalingrad? Is the number of people who got their vision back or had their lives saved by being treated for preventable disease by Cuban and Cuban trained doctors ever included? The Cuban volunteer doctors who went to Africa to halt the Ebola outbreak saving untold numbers of lives had that outbreak not been halted. The Cuban government bases their foreign policy on respect for the chosen leaders of other nations not coup plots, regime change wars and having puppets declare themselves President.

@demiking1002 The defeat of the Spanish revolution was bond up in the refsal to abolish capitalism but instead to set up an unholy alliance of anarchists, stalinists and 'progressive bourgeois in a quote anti fascist alliance. The Stalinist took the point in assassinating any leaders they could not control.
1
@demiking1002 The lesson of the Russian revolution is that the menshevik alliance with bourgeois liberals was wrong but an alliance between the industrial workers represented by the bolsheviks and the peasant farmers represented by the left Social Revolutionaries was able to defeat the vacillating Provisional government and move forward with the second socialist revolution after the Paris commune.
1
@demiking1002 Hardly no ruling class in history has surrendered without first trying to defend itself using its state power. Trotsky's menshevik internationalist fused with Lenin's bolsheviks. The other Mensheviks lost the votes in the Soviets for setting up the revolutionary military committee and then walked out in protest.

@danieltitus26 Well ya but emotional damage is not really quantifiable. If I see a NAZI or CSA flag I feel uncomfortable. The Smith 'gag' Act was passed on the ruse of being a law to stop a NAZI third column in the US. Instead it first victims were the leaders of the Minneapolis Teamsters Union and Socialist Workers Party. During the McCarthy era it was used over and over again to send members of the Communist Party away for 5 year jail terms.

Black's in the confederate army? All but totally untrue with the possible exception of few black freemen as officers in the Louisiana State Militia. If Blacks did anything for the CSA it was cooking, cleaning, laundry and digging trenches. Lee's white troops complained about digging trenches as that was a slaves work. Slaves or Ex Slaves did not stand armed shoulder to shoulder with Whites Troops in either army. One hundred and ninety thousand US Colored Troops served their country.

@shittyopinions You can spend all day dreaming about the stateless libertarian fantasy world but it is a totally utopian world because it fails to see that states defend ruling classes. They are not class free groups sitting astride classes. That only once the working class gains the majority of state power in the world will the nation state capitalist system be crushed. Only capitalist nation states need a huge military and police force to defend their brand of the profit system to keep the workers and poor of the world under the thumb of the profiteers.
1
@shittyopinions I assume those who use the term Statist subscribe to some sort of philosophy where states stand above classes unlike the Marx and Lenin who's teaching is that states defend classes and in particular the ruling class. Most of those people today are capitalist libertarians. They also made up a group of intellectuals leaving the communist movement for the safety of democratic Imperialism just prior to the US entering the second world Imperailist slaughter. Statism is similar to the theory of totalitarianism where Hitler and Hitlerism and Stalin and Stalinism were exactly the same. People as different as Noam Chomsky and And Rand are those who like this theory of a state being bad folks with no class allegiance. Most of the enlisted ranks in the military are the sons and daughters of the working class and will side with a socialist revolution. The officer corps will probably become divided. We let people write their own ticket first so if your a Nazi-cop nice to know you and goodbye.

Congress and the states have so many laws on the books and are writing more because that's what professional legislatures do. It was man who invented God to explain the most important aspects of Human life in the form of stories. Since no scientist has come up a way to empirically prove god exists why would a natural law flow from a non existent entity? You accuse me of division when everyone knows one of the most popular ways to divide people in a meaningless way is with religion. Thomas Jefferson warned against religious firebrands and that's why we have a first amendment.

@backwoodsoutlaw5977 Your giving me indigestion. Civil war was fought over the institution of slavery worth 4 billion dollars see the Mississippi articles of secession. http://avalon.law.yale.edu/19th_century/csa_missec.asp
1
@SouthernSkeptic Nope the Mississippi document of secession shows that slavery was the real cause of secession and any other issues were minor. http://avalon.law.yale.edu/19th_century/csa_missec.asp

@Brennus of Gaul I didn't deny anything except this stupid numbers game. Lenin wanted Stalin removed from his post as General secretary in 1924, he was sick and close to death at the time and his review of Political Committee members was never shown to anyone outside of the political committee until sometime after Stalin's death probably at the 20th Congress of the CPSU. Trotsky then took up the challenge against the newly forming bureaucracy being lead by Stalin but he was forced into exile and later assassinated in Mexico. The old bolsheviks (pre Oct 1917 party members) also took up the challenge. They were then charged with Trotskyism and being agents of Hitler. The most prominent were executed after show trials in the Great Purge others were sent to the camps murdered there and eventually the NKVD was given arrest quotas. So now It didn't matter who you were. They grabbed people off the street and Stalin's opposition was not just a few central committee members either. Demonstrations against the Stalinist Thermador continued not just outside the camps and in the streets but inside the camps also. Not only was Trotsky refused entry into the US from Mexico even his dead body was considered to dangerous to the FDR regime to have a funeral for the great revolutionist in New York.

@Brennus of Gaul I don't like the Battle flag of Northern Virginia but I don't want government doing me any favors like banning NAZI or CSA flags. Amazon, WalMart other Retailers not selling CSA flags is a public relations maneuver designed to keep liberals buying from their stores in the competition for market share. .
1
@Brennus of Gaul I live in a CT campground/trailer park right now. One person has a CSA flag on a pole. I just ignore him. Except for my avatar I don't fly flags or have bumper stickers because I don't want to draw unnecessary police attention.

I think that government agencies should stick to fling their own officials flags except when official foreign dignitaries are involved. To the best of my knowledge no one has been cited or arrested for flying a flag recently. I oppose people burning flags as both counterproductive and insulting but recognize the right to do so. Mississippi has their flag but to me it still symbolizes hate. I think restoring voting rights to people convicted of a crime after finishing their jail or prison time is more important for the time being.
1
@shittyopinions I've been through Mississippi multiple times and I've never seen a lot of state flags or flags of the Army of Northern Virginia. My guess is Mississippi is like the rest of the states where state flags are seen mostly at state office buildings.
1
@shittyopinions I've been through all of the eleven southern states of the old south. Virginia seems to be the state most concerned with the civil war, monuments and including its welcome to Virginia literature.

TheMilitant.com Pathfinderpress.com are the printers of the communist/socialist movement in the US. Unlike the Stalinist we aren't a murder machine dedicated to the preservation of bureaucratic privilege in the Soviet Union. Our goal is to build a party of Tribunes of the People such that they can explain every case of class oppression and how the capitalist system is held together with police and military violence. We seek to analyze and explain not just the victories won in the the class struggle but also the defeats. This to prepare the way for the final battle between capital and labor in the USA.

@shittyopinions "...your account is only second-hand. Dumb broad...." The proper word is anecdotal not second-hand dumb prick.

@shittyopinions We spend a lot of time fighting for the rights of working people to read write and think for themselves. A few of the most well know cases are The 1940 Minneapolis Teamsters and Socialist Workers Party Smith Act trial carried out by the FDR regime. Among other things we were accused of planning protests against bad food in the Army. If the food is bad in the Army then the soldiers will protest it was Comrade Cannon's reply. The real reason was that they did like us saying that is this was a war to make the US Capitalist masters of the world vs the German Fascist ones. That the civilian soldiers don't give up their constitutional rights just because they were wearing a uniform. We said that the soldiers should be able to elect at least their noncoms if not the officer corps as a whole. That making the Nurses officers was a ploy so only the officers could have female companionship. The jury did convict but urged leniency. The Case of the Legless Veteran where Jimmy Kutcher refused to quit the SWP just so he could keep his job at the VA this battle against the McCarthyite which hunt was successful Jimmy got his job and back pay. The case of the Blooming three where three members of the Young Socialist Alliance were charged with attempting to overthrow the state of Indiana. Charges dismissed. zSocialist Workers Campaign Committee vs FEC a fight to keep the names of Party contributors out of government hands. The exposure of Cointelpro in SWP v. Attorney General officially ending open ended FBI investigations with a permanent injunction and a 1/4 million in damages. I'm sure that President Trump would also like to get such a ruling against the Muller witch hunt. We are currently battling the State of Florida corrections department for confiscating our newspaper form subscribers behind bars. If your a defender of free speech then you will want to send a letter also. TheMilitant.com

@shittyopinions The whole bathroom issue could easily be solved with unisex bathrooms and redesigned no peeking stalls at WalMart. It's the conservatives starting with Phyllis Schlafly who created the bathroom issue by attacking the Equal Rights Amendment as requiring women and men to use the same bathroom. Sex is always a major issue for two Party politician and Christian Firebrands.
1
Don't want me speaking for you fine. You said you were for free speech but I guess you either afraid of the Florida DOC, too busy to care or are only certain ideas worthy of your exalted highness protection. I wouldn't want to put words in your mouth so maybe you can explain your thinking. Like how and when we commies plan to secretly and suddenly end free speech?
1
@shittyopinions "Sex is easily determined." DA?
1
@shittyopinions Have you considered purchasing some aluminum foil to prevent anymore US Embassy in Cuba type attacks by secret squirrels?
1
@shittyopinions "What are your marketable skills?" What's your point? Are you trolling for employment services?
1
@shittyopinions I have plenty of skills and abilities. What I don't have is the proper licenses. Yes though part of communism is raising the cultural and overall education of not just a select few but everyone. Instead of education ending at 18 or 22 it becomes a lifelong activity.
1
@shittyopinions No much more broad than any single collection of ideas. Maybe you want to learn an instrument, study music theory or play a sport. Maybe we create more of theses maker centers in public libraries where you can go and learn by doing how to make or fix things with machine tools, electronics and hand tools.
1
@shittyopinions Education is always social even if you are sitting in a library reading a book. Your interacting in only one direction with the book but someone took the time to write that book. Discovery is more individualistic and requires observation.
1
@shittyopinions I'm wondering what you are quibbling about now. Knowledge is not the same as education to begin with. Careful observation with the Michelson Morley experiment showed that the speed of light was the same for all observers. This fact goes against what seems intuitive that things gain or lose speed depending on the observer's frame of reference.
