@Nowhy In any really large project the engineers divided up the work and go over each others work before the bridge gets built. That's why the professors award partial credit because they want to see your thinking on paper rather than just the correct answer. Professor who are lazy give the exact same exams that have the same answers and give no partial credit collect the exams afterwords and depend upon secrecy to prevent cheating because they are to lazy to develop multiple questions on the same topics. You will find that these professors have degrees in the topic and a PHD in something like education. So their clam to fame is being experts in teaching rather than expertise in the topic.

In Britain the elected portion of government, parliament is called the house of commons. The house of Lords is composed of hereditary land owners. When England was a Republic it was called the Commonwealth. This is why to this day the official names of some states are the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Virginia and Kentucky.

The bosses quest for bigger private profits drives the bosses to attack the social standards of the working class because profits come from the unpaid labor of the workers in a pay period. This is why the bosses seek to get the production workers to work the longest hours, at the lowest wages at the fastest pace in a pay period.

Fascism has nothing to do with liberating anyone rather it is a type of terrorist gangster movemnet which brings about a military dictatorship over the workers and farmers in defense of capitalist and big landowners property. A well know fascist gangster was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem the son of a big landowners family who began organizing pogroms of Jews back in the 1920's. He would go on to join Hitler in planning the final solution for the Jews orchestrating the Baghdad pogrom in 1941 while British troops stood by just 8 miles away. . .

@l1mi13 Well he read Karl Marx on economics "Das Kapital" rejecting any contact with any living Marxist and then he began his career as a Bourgeois thinker who rejected Marx after being placed in a privileged position at the US Dept of Labor. This is where he made the earth shattering discover that the bureaucrats at the dept of labor were out to save their own skins and not the true communist. It was 1960 and he could gone to Cuba to see the revolution or join the movement to secure civil rights but then he might of faced the blacklist of the McCarty era. You did get hired for federal jobs or get student National Defense loans without swearing you were not a member of the Communist Party or an organization on the Attorney general's list of subversive organizations.

Our morals are superior because we promote human solidarity which are the morals of the working class and all the exploited producers. Do you think that Cuba could not build nuclear weapons if they chose too? Who would we use them on the American people? Asked Fidel Castro? We have the protection of a moral vest because we tell the truth good or bad. @francus7227 Capitalism produces a new class struggle between a wage earning working class and a profit taking capitalist class. Previous social systems were not based in factory production with a modern working class that operates and tends machines but farming and handicrafts. Capitalism is a social system where production is carried out socially and the profits distributed privately. The capitalist sek to monopolize the social surplus for their own ends while the workers want to use the surplus to make their own lives better. This class struggle will continue until one or the other wins a decisive victory over the other or the ruin of both occurs. That is the lesson of the class struggles from history.

@aidanmeyer69 I am a communist because i've been convinced not just by the comrades in the movemnet but from about 9th grade when I first read the Communist Manifesto then with the explanation of the Vietnam war being part of a battle by the colonial people for their freedom from Imperialism. It left me wondering why Communism had stopped at the borders created by world war 2. I also wondered about the question of democracy. I couldn't reconcile this seemingly contradictory problem until one day some came by an activist booth and brought up Trotsky. This immediately brought up a tirade of insults such that i had to find out who he was and what his politics were about.

@petervan333 That true that the US/UK and Soviet Union all officially fought on the same side. My uncle had been in the Army in Europe and my dad in the navy in Pacific. But the promises of the civil war amendments had been ignored for over one hundred years when it came to people with a different skin color. I had an uncle with skin white as snow but the kinky hair of a Black person who was the but of some very bad jokes and Greek neighbors who could easily be mistaken for being black..We also live not far from a SAC airbase where plans took off and landed with nuclear weapons on board. This was also the era of the cold war when as a child we were supposedly preparing for nuclear war by going under our desks. Between the war and all these protesters being accused of communism along with this supposed threat from the Soviet Union would you be curious about what the whole thing was about?

@BGTuyau Do you usually ask someone to prove a contention that you have made? I have read his work on Marx and heard his childish reasoning on full display when being interviewed about his supposed desertion from Marxism. Marxism is not a new doctrine of universal reform but rather a working class movement. While Sowell came from a black sharecroppers family and held wage workers jobs he never to the best of my knowledge participated in any kind of Black, labor, socialist or communist organization before deserting marxism. When his professor who was supervising his undergraduate thesis suggest he speak with a Marxist economist he reject that out of hand saying he didn't want any outside influence. So what you have is someone who claims to be a Marxist who totally sits out the class struggle which is making headlines with the fight against segregation and the Cuban revolution in 1960. Where does this so called Marxist go? To Cuba? No he is ushered into a cush job at the US Labor department where he develops a completely unoriginal theory that the government employees have their own skins to save. Some how this convinces Sowell Marx is wrong.

@philsmith2444 Sowell who would be about the same age as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King is continually proposed as a Black leader by Conservative Republicans because he played zero role in the struggle to end Jim Crow and is considered to be safe spokesman for big business interests. If you've ever been on an elite university campus you know that they are always congratulating themselves as scholars and gentleman.

@Nick-fg4dq Sowells problem is the same as his mentor Milton Friedman knowing just enough to appear smart but unable to get beyond either a classical understanding of economics developed before Marx or into the non materialistic view where value is subjective and capitalism is a workable system if the bosses use just the right mixture of government intervention and free managent operation to maximize profits. For the modern capitalist economist capitalism and the crisis it produces can be managed by the use of central bank policy. Like every bourgeois economist since Keynes they are stuck with the contradiction of the increasing state power and government intervention needed to keep the profit system on track.yet with no clear way into the past that these reactionaries hope for. For they are stuck with disproving Marx's conclusions on capitalism and Lenin on Imperialism along with Trotsky's ideas on political revolution in the workers states. The capitalist lost the cold war when popular revolutions over though the counterfeit communist regimes in the Soviet bloc and sent China down the capitalist road while Cuba underwent Political Revolution. It only took about twenty years after all the hoopla surrounding the implosion of the Soviet Union for the worst economic crisis to occur since the Great Depression of 1929.

I think the only thing they teach in economics 101 is how smart the professor claims to be. He tells the class what to think and say and you nod your heads for an A. The businessman has one goal to obtain the highest rate of return on his capital invested. If he has some other goal than the competition will drive him out of business. His goal is to monopolize the market or divide the market amog a few for the benefit of all. His goal is not competition but the defeat of all his competitions. His only interest in competition is when he needs to spend his money. He seeks to pay only a wage necessary to get his workers to reproduce their labor power their ability to work for the next pay period. So he seeks to get the workers to work the longest hour at the lowest wages and fastest pace so he can sell in the market for the biggest profits. The role of the capitalist government is to be the manager of the common affairs of the capitalist class to take up areas of the economy that can't produce private profits the way industries that can constantly reduce labor time can. Henry Ford wanted the government to pay for and build roads with taxes because he knew if he waited for the development of private turnpikes of early American he would have to wait years before he could sell mass produced cars.

@1dood Basic Economics written as basic mystification.. First assertion all economics is about distribution of scarce resources with alternative resources fulfilling wants that always are excessive.. No its about fulling basic needs that human beings have to food, clothing, water, and shelter after which we create culture from which all art, science and even religion springs Our species from the very beginning used labor in a social group to achieve those needs. Since the beginning of agriculture we have been creating a surplus of food production. Second we have always found new uses for what we already have. Our hands are shaped for grasping and our voice box for communications. We are as much a part of the natural world as we are shaped by it. Capitalism is the first system which has crisis caused not by shortages but by overproduction for markets that can not sell all that can be produced at a profit.

The state arose in human society as a necessary feature to defend the creation of the surplus value by the first agricultural societies. The initial small size of the surplus is why the cleange into classes was like the division of labor a necessary feature.

When he got a cushy job at the US Labor Dept. they set his ass straight on that bullshit. Blacks fought for affirmative action as a way to make up for past discrimination as a form of reparations. They gained support from other working people and the trade unions. That is different than the fighting over who gets to have the privileged managerial positions in the shrinking middle class. The Capitalist class is overwhelmingly White Protestant and Anglo Saxon. Because as the product of capitalism it is a hereditary class that gets only smaller in proportion its general characteristics will not change.

It does not think. have intelligence or create anything of value nor is it guided by invisible hands. As John Locke observed labor transforms nature. Just like first and second laws of thermodynamics markets at best are an equal exchange but it gets even worse because they impose a cost in labor time. Your friend Professor Sowell is always tryring to hide this truth with his theories of exchange where both sides benefit and great risk can produce great reward. The competition for markets and resources becomes the driver of war and economic crisis as overproduction for markets that no longer can absorb all that can be produced for a profit causes the capitalist to halt production in a crisis that feeds on itself by throwing the workers out of a job to save on wages paid. Your assumption that capitalist only invest to expand production is wrong since when they can't expand production they drive up the value of ""sure things" though speculation whose value later collapses. This has been a problem since the dutch Tulip bulb crisis of the 1600's caused an economic crisis. Our proposals is to replace capitalist professional regulation is workers control of industry and government. You take out the profit motive when you take away the control of industry away from the capitalist bosses by abolishing private property. The Democratic and Republican Parties are NOT reformable and instead organizations of the capitalist class. The problem with centralization and capitalism is the declining rate of profit in industries which can no longer cut costs threw cutting labor time and therefore need to cut wages.

@skipper7152 The value of the words in the US Constitution lies in the struggles it took to put down those basic rights and ideas on paper and the continuous fight to defend and expand them.. The only real contradictory part involves the right to private property and the current interpretation of that right going beyond just personal property. I doubt Sowell has the slightest idea of what he would change or put in since I've never heard him complain about it. They've spent a lot of time complaining about regulatory agencies with no solution other than get rid of them and give power back but then the question becomes give power to whom? In the United States the Bosses organized the McCarthy whichunt that began in 1940 with the Smith "gag" Act prosecution of 18 leaders of the Socialist Workers Party and Minneapolis Teamsters. Once NAZI Germany and Japan were defeated the US/UK no longer had a need for Stalin's regime so they began the cold war with a Red Scare. Unlike the earlier Red Scare of the 1920's which was equal opportunity one against anarchists, communist and Socialist. This one was directed against the Stalinist Communist Party directly and indirectly anyone who could be smeared as a communist party support. Unions had to certify there weren't any communists in their leadership down to the shop steward level. Loyalty oaths replaced the old yellow dog contracts that had been declared illegal.. Congressional which hunt committees traveled the country issuing subpoenas demanding that witness name the names of communist they knew. It was effective because the top leaders of the unions either aquested, launched raids against Stalinist lead unions or eventually declared themselves not to be communist party members. Stalinist union policy was a sectarian one and unpopular with the workers because of Communist Party strike breaking during the war years. Politicians of both parties like the Kennedy brothers and Richard Nixon made careers out of the politics of the witch hunt. In the Soviet Union Stalin began using similar tactics against Trotsky certainly after Lenin death in 1924 but Stalin had to go to much further extremes, His opposition had lead a revolution, endured the hardships of civil war, czarist prison, political exile and was much bigger. All these problems point to the establishment of the capitalist method of production being based upon to narrow a ground. So with this method they are able to avoid handing out strike provoking wage cuts by using inflation to cut wages since they have control of the central bank. At the end of world war two the capitalist nations meet at Breton Woods to set up fixed exchange rates. That system prevailed until 1973. This is when Nixon told France we are NOT going to give you gold for dollars. Fifty years of wage stagnation followed along with the advanced capitalist nations moving production to China and the colonial nations. Now Capitalism with Chinese Characteristics is in the position of pre world war one German, the US as the UK and the EU as France. The biggest difference is on a world scale the size of the working class in every nation is much bigger.

You will notice that before 2008 in those countries in asia where capitalism was said to work miracles all of them can not reproduce the population needed to even replace those now living and that since 2008 that has become a problem in the rest of the capitalist world that without immigration countries like the US and Canada would have declining populations.
