@alwaysopen7970 They have to look like they are doing something radical if they are to keep the system in tact. Bankers aren't the most popular people among small business since they usually demand collateral. If you want small business to hire after the pandemic they need access to lots of cheap capital since they probably lost most of it during the lock down. The National banks would probably be happy to sacrifice the community banks on the alter of big business if it means saving themselves.

The national banks want some type of guarantees before they hand out capital to all the small business who were bankrupted by the lock down. No one wants to pay market rate for loans that have little secrurity to back them. Banks don't want the collateral from another crisis since they can't sell anything their is no market for. Nor does anyone want to go to work for wages that won't pay them to more than what the got on UI during the pandemic. The real capitalist not the small businessman running a restaurant or Barroom aren't sure what to do they are driven by the profit quest which is working but at least some of them also realize its not working for the working class. That is what is driving the two party division. One group thinks more tax cuts will solve the problem while the other wants more spending and higher taxes. Who do you think decides now who gets a loan? You think it is some kind of "fair" process because of "free markets". You really aren't that naive are you?

I've got a 700+ credit rating I couldn't get a 20K secured auto loan from either Bank Of America or a Community Bank before Covid. The only way these small buinesses will get loans is if either the government makes or guarantees them. In 2003 I borrowed 10K at about 5% on my signature alone.

You want an unregulated capitalist medicene system you be treated by Doctors who learned their trade as meat packers and drugs made out of milkweed and opium. A Doctor can already prescribe any drug approved by the FDA for any medical purpose. That doesn't mean he is allowed to act recklessly and proscribe Trumps idea of what is a medicine for covid. But hey Robitussin can cure cancer right? If a Doctor just gave you what you wanted he wouldn't need an education and you'd be suing him for mal practice. Most American Doctors specialize and rely on the Drug companies who get FDA approval for advice on what to prescribe.

No one is putting money in these community banks at .05 % interest so they are dependent on the big banks for a discount rate to make loans. Its the Banks that want the guarantees not the small businesses or me. The Federal Reserve is owned by the Nationally Chartered Banks. Every capitalist financial crisis results in fewer but bigger banks as the biggest eat up the smallest. plus she is if anything a Stalinist who are opposed not to capitalism but revolutionary socialism. Stalin had 1000's of loyal communist murdered in the Soviet Union and !00's in Spain. He had Trotsky murdered in Mexico City.

The capitalist nations have been fighting each other for markets, colonies and cheap labor. The Russian revolution was the response to Imperialism. The English merchants and traders got tired of paying taxes to King Charles who was going about the country fighting useless wars destroying wealth for power and prestige. The American workers will tire of paying for a class of foreign investors who destroy the world just so they can keep a profits measured in paper money and electrons following into bank vaults.

Do you think people are being oppressed in Cuba? I'd like to know just who it is that wasn't gulity of the serious crimes they were charged with. Socialist aren't MLK and Ghandi who just wait to be assassinated. We are for self defense not proving that we can be killed by gangsters and terrorists. If capitalism and free markets are such a source of freedom why don't the wealth middle east countries who were under the influence of France, England and now the US have western democracies with free speech norms? Why did the US support the most brutal dictatorships as bulwarks against communism and use body counts to measure victory in Vietnam? Stalin was corrected by the 1989 popular revolutions. On paper we have more rights than Canadian's but they seem to have a much less violent state and society.

Just point out where a well known Marxist ever said, "We should burn down cities." The Stalinist's are the ones who oppose free speech. I don't vote for capitalist two party politicians. After 20 years and 2.3 trillion dollars the worlds most powerful Imperialist Empire was run out of Afghanistan by nothing more than small arms and IED's by a rag tag army of reactionary Islamist's. The French just held an election where only about 30% of the electorate bothered to vote. In the US the two party system is under continual preasure. The Modi Regime was just forced to back down in its attack on farmers by massive year long protests. In China a new independent labor movement and big new working class has show its power in strikes that made gains for workers. Mean while Socialist Cuba stands up to Imperialist threats and a cruel 60 year Blockade just 90 miles from the Empire. The recent plan by the supporters of US Imperialism to have demonstrations on Nov 15 fizzed as admitted by the NYT. Cuba sticks like bone in the Imperialist throat at the UN and around the world where almost every country including US allies votes against the blockade. If capitalism was so much better they wouldn't need to blockade the country after all trade should lead to freedom according to capitalist ideologues. In Cuba the workers and farmers are the government not big capitalist bankers and bosses like in the US. For the US Empire to remain a world power it must be able to militarily defend foreign investment and profits. You have read nothing by Marx or any other Marxist or maybe you read the communist manifesto once. Outside of the United States socialism is very popular despite having no clear definition. Many countries have mass socialist and/or communist parties including those in Western Europe.

@peanut71968 Sowell "saw the light" after service under the capitalist liberals at the labor dept. If Sowell was a Marxist in the early 1960's he missed out on the Cuban revolution and Lenin's State and Revolution. Lenin reiterates Marx's teaching on the State as being a class institution and not one that stands above classes. Sowell claims his work at the labor dept gave him the evidence that Marx was wrong. Why anyone who read Marx and especially Lenin's State and revolution would think that liberalism is the path to socialism is beyond me. Only the social reformers not Marxist Leninist revolutionaries believe that kind of non sense.

@Mor MacFey The only ones defeated in 1989 were the Stalinist leadership much like the old racist leaders of American Democratic Party were defeated by the working class Black Rights fighters. Since 2008 Capitalism has been a world crisis of trade and production. Babylonian disappeared after going into decline. That's not what happened in the old Soviet Union. The workers remain undefeated in trade unions in all the advanced capitalist countries.

The natural workings of capitalism are such that it can not avoid crisis. The selfishness of the worlds nations capitalist classes prevents solutions to the problems of the world market. You can see how they have failed miserable to halt the corona virus epidemic. Big pharma is more worried about patents and getting a return on investment than the health of the worlds people. From Trump to Biden to whole vaccine roll out has been on disaster after another.

@xltek1 That's because both parties are capitalist parties. Their disagreements are over how best to continue capitalist exploitation at home and defend Imperialist foreign investment abroad. What failed in the Soviet Union was a privileged bureaucracy returning the Soviet Union back to capitalism. Capitalism does nothing for the working class everything the workers have has been won in the class struggle. The road to world socialism is through the class struggle. Any economic crisis in the last years of the Soviet Union was caused by Milton Freedman's shock therapy. Too bad Freedman died before the 2008 crisis from which the world capitalist crisis of trade and production has not recovered. If capitalism was so successful than Trump would never had to run as a candidate to make America(n Imperialism) Great Again. Stalinist like Omarova no longer capable of selling out revolutions and whole countries have to settle for jobs working for the US Imperialist government. Meanwhile Cuba keeps moving forward despite the lies and provocations from Washington. The Imperialist can neither forget or forgive the Cuban people for rejecting US Imperialism and setting out on the socialist road no matter the difficulties and Imperialist threats of war, invasion and 60 years of a cruel blockade. @alexbailie225 The revolution of 1776 was made by merchants and slaveholders. The English king was making laws that interfered with colonial development like prohibiting the importation of money. The English already had the Experience of the Commonwealth and I'm sure what happened to the commissioners who voted for King Charles execution after the restoration of monarchy weighed heavily on their plans when setting up the republic. Thomas Paine's pamphlet "Common Sense" criticism of monarchy and the peerage was read in public though out the colonies and remains the biggest seller of all time in America. It's truely American to say to someone don't you have "common sense".

@alexbailie225 Unlike the English American's don't like to admit we live in a class society and ancestry plays a role in our social status. On paper we have more civil rights than our Canadian cousins in reality you much more likely to be convicted of a crime in the US and serve prison time. We can take pictures any government facilities that can be viewed from a public place in Canada you can't. Same with the legality of protests in America if a protest is declared illegal they will quickly go to the riot police dressed like soldiers in Canada they seem to go with riots sticks and no helmets despite property damage. I could be wrong but that's the impression I get.

The capitalist can't escape their own greed and the drive for profits at everyone else's expense. The popular revolutions in the East were a defeat for Stalinism not socialism. The US lost the cold war and its positions as top dog in the Imperialist world is in decline. The defeat in Afghanistan shows how weak the war technological wizard has become.
