@southduck The price of labor is NOT determined by what it labor produces but what it costs. The cost of labor is the social cost of the worker to reproduce his labor power in a pay period. The capitalist plans to sell the product in a market at a price which will yield a rate of profit above or equal to all other rates of profits. Whatever surplus value the workers labor power produces goes into the capitalist pocket. This is why he wants us working the longest hours at the lowest wages and the fastest pace to make the biggest profits. Now as the capitalist invests in new machines he seeks to replace higher paid skilled labor with machines and unskilled labor and labor in general with better technique and machines to make profits move in his direction. However since the profits come from our living labor and not the already accumulated and paid labor in the machine the rate of profits by which the capitalist judge success must fall. In the past to counter the falling rate of profits the capitalist issued wage cuts. To get around this strike provacating issue they began deflating the value of the currency with a central bank. This makes property values rise while wages are blamed for inflation.

@southduck Capitalism doesn't work like that. The bosses have to pay enough to keep workers coming back to work it depends on how much the have to train you and if you belong to a union. Agriculture is the lowest paid of all labor, temporary and as such it's the last to be mechanized. Farmers have a reputation in Mexico for hiring border crossers and then calling border patrol before pay day. Yard service is a luxury service for the upper middle class.

Electric battery powered hand tools replace muscle powered hand tools. Every special skill is replaced by general labor and special tools. The price of labor is the social cost for the laborer to reproduce his labor for the next pay period. This is why the bosses want us to work the longest hours at the lowest rate and the fastest pace to get the most surplus value out of our labor when the product is exchanged in the market place. That's because modern industry with social labor, modern energy and better tools produces more in less labor time than the old ways of doing things by hand and individually or by the farm family.

@docilenation101 Capitalist set taxes and government expenditures without any control from the working class. The bosses collect the taxes from our paycheck and at the grocery store. It costs to pay for people initially entering yes but once at work they produce more than they consume. Anytime you have more workers than jobs that put pressure on wages. But the only way to push wages up is with union working class action it will not go up because workers are deported. All that does is increase insecurity and play into the hands of the boss class. Wages are set by what is necessary to keep you coming back to work for the next pay period. If you don't want other workers coming here than we need a workers labor party with a foreign policy not a wall. What you need is a brain update. Why do you just go make sure you gated community is secure and no one is sleeping in the guard shack. What you want is a safe space.

At the same time their system of wage labor was in class conflict with slavery and to a certain extent the feudal landowners who held peasants tied to the land. Because the Japanese adopted capitalism they became honorary white people in racist South Africa. The defeat of the King by the American revolution of merchants, small farmers and slave owners was the first defeat for slavery with Thomas Paine founding the anti slavery society and a few years later the first Black Republic in Haiti after the French Revolution created a land reform with peasants owning land. The civil war to pu down the slave owners rebellion ended up destroying slavery and creating Reconstruction governments where the slaves who played a role in putting down the slave owners revolt began fights for property, voting rights and citizenship. Both Parties agreed to an amnesty of the Confederates who were waging a violent counter revolution against Blacks and the New Southern Republican Reconstruction governments. ,

The only people who pay for safety are those who are workers. They already have plenty of laws, jails and a prison population that exceeds that of China and even the Stalin years in the Soviet Union by percentage and number. It goes in and out of crisis because investment shifts back and forth between expanding production and driving up the value of fictitious capital. And it has the problem of a long term decline in the real rate of profits. That is why it can't be simply taken over and run by honest capitalist or anyone who thinks that the methods of capitalism can work over the long term.

With paper money a bank can put more paper into circulation than they have gold on deposit. You could buy gold in 1800 for about $20 until 1933. That's when Roosevelt took gold out of circulation at about $23.50 an ounce. After WW2 the US Bretton woods agreement set gold at $35 an ounce. France wanted Gold for dollars so Nixon said "NO". That temporarily ended the Gold standard and then Ford made Gold ownership for speculation legal again. By printing money the value of property can rise in the market while the wages can be held down by blaming wage increases for inflation. This is how they got away without issuing strike provoking wage cuts until 2008.

After we have worked a certain amount of time we have put in enough labor to pay for our social cost the rest goes to the bosses. That's why the want us working the longest hours at the lowest wages and at the fastest pace. When they sell in a market they only want to sell at a profit. New York is full of empty office buildings that could be repurposed as apartments but the bosses don't want to spend on immigrants who can't pay. Just like those who become homeless or sick the bosses say it cost them too much. They and others like them have created these world wide social problems and now they hope to escape payment.

Inflation is caused by bosses raising prices. They can do that because they can add money with the federal reserve bank. Deportations will NOT produce jobs or raise wages. Gas prices are controlled by the Energy bosses. The drill for more oil only if they see profits ahead.

The only reason they would have for being oil independent would be to be able to conduct foreign policy using oil as a weapon. They borrow money from the same people who should be paying taxes . What they spend the money on is what makes a difference. They aren't spending it on things working people need. Cheap overseas labor does NOT steal jobs. Bosses seeking bigger profits move to lower wage areas. Prices do not go down when they move production elsewhere profits go up. Labor time to produce goes down when new factories are built. Capitalism goes into crisis when investing in expanding productions only fills markets with more goods that can't be sold at a profit so them investment drives up the value of fictitious capital until that collapses producing an economic crisis. Bosses layoff to prevent losses and then a crisis begins because workers can't buy back what can be produced. That is a regular feature of capitalism that only gets worse. The only way out of the Great Depression was the destruction of World War 2 followed then by the floating of Marshall plan loans and the betrayal of the Social Democratic and Stalinist labor leaders along with cold war arms production.

Without a workers foreign policy that will remain true no matter what the immigration policy is. If they can't get cheap labor here they move the plants to the other side of the border as it is now so all your doing is entering into protectionism with them. Sure more workers puts a downward pressure on wages but capitalism always enters a crisis every ten years or so which does that. Profits are what's left over after expenses like wages, salaries and other production input costs are paid and the product is sold in a market. The reinvest the profits to replace higher paid skilled labor with unskilled labor and machines to drive profits in their direction. When the run out of ways to invest profits in expanding the production of commodities for markets that become bloated with overproduction they turn to investing to drive up the value of fictitious capital which gets way overvalued until it then collapses causing an economic crisis. An economic crisis occurs when the bosses can't make more profits and they begin layoffs of workers who can no longer buy what the use to produce. Workers are now evicted from homes because rents and mortgages can't be paid when jobs are not available at the old wages because bosses always seek to take advantage of a crisis by paying lower wages.

On cars produced in Mexico yes but now they will raise the price of all cars sold in the US since they own the production facilities on both sides of the border. They have extra capacity in building automobiles so they can shift production of say GM and Ford Pickups towards the US or Mexico if they choose by adding or subtracting manufacturing time in the week. When they sell themselves parts across the border how carefully do you think customs looks into those prices? You'd pay a lot more for a car if you had to buy the parts and self assemble.

Its only a waste of money which is why the rest of the ruling class doesn't want to pay for it. Bosses don't pay based upon immigration status. They don't want full employment because that would cut into profits. So it makes no difference if the open or close the border to us. @Muzzleblast-1911 The law isn't written or meant for us. We can only use the democratic rights in capitalist law to our advantage. Organizations like the liberal common cause wrote campaign laws that were suppose to get big money out of politics back after Watergate. They just found ways around them and make it harder to build a workers party independent of the capitalist parties because now we have to file all kinds of paperwork with the government. It's just like the unions they didn't give a damn about corruption in the unions until the unions became a big enough threat then first they favored the corrupt like Dan Tobin and then latter they went after corruption to attack the unions as a whole. They are attacking Trump not because he is corrupt but because they fear the attention he has paid to workers and the fear us more than him. That's why the keep talking about MAGA extremism. They fear a politicized working class.

@Muzzleblast-1911 The biggest way the get away without paying taxes is by taking out collateralized loans such that as the property value rises with inflation the loan just rolls over and they never have to pay the loan back this way they are going into debt and don't have income tax from capital gains or dividend payments. They know no one is ever going to pass a law taxing debts or taking out loans.

@Cdub1717 Anytime you can pay lower wages and bigger profits are the result. Inflation is caused by the central bank increasing the money supply so bosses can raise prices and blame workers for inflation. Bosses seek to pay the lowest wage to make the biggest profits they seek to pay only the social cost of you reproducing your labor power for a pay period. After you have created enough value to pay for your social cost the rest of the value goes into profits for the bosses. Both Parties are for the bosses. Income taxes is a bogus issue since the bosses set the tax rates and borrow money from those who should be paying taxes in the first place as the capitalist fund government though a combination of debt and taxes. They prefer debt because they believe they can get a guaranteed return with no possibility of default. Now even some Senators fear what will happen if they default on the debt.

@alanboggs2315 As I've said the bosses only want to pay the social cost to reproduce our labor. They don't want to pay for a new generation of workers. You can look at any of these so called capitalist miracle countries and they all have this problem of not paying for a new generation of workers. Its gotten worse in Canada and the United States since 2008. You can also look ar record of use of industrial capacity and see that the bosses are using less of the total industrial capacity over time.

@andrewlinn7863 By increasing the amount of money in circulation the value of the money goes down because bosses can now raise prices and the value of property rises faster than wages. It's a way for the bosses to try and issue wage cuts without provoking strikes.

This shifting back and forth is what causes economic crisis. It's never really clear what will happen because economic crisis or a war in one part of the world can effect how things are produced and traded on the other side of the globe. What did people do before agriculture? We lived in groups who did hunting and gathering as social animals who communicate with a voice box and labored with out hands after which we create culture from which all science art and even religion comes. About ten thousands years ago our ancestors began agriculture the delberted planting and raising of animals and plants for food and clothing. This increase in productivity resulted in surpluses that allowed for bigger groups, a division of labor and the creation of a ruling class. The creation of agriculture also brought an end to cannibalism people no longer ate their dead or killed each other in times of food shortages. These agricultural people had to defend their surplus form barbarians as the Greeks called them. Money was originated by the ancient sumerians as coins later the Roman's paid the soldiers in salt.

@andrewlinn7863 The key is to raise prices and then blame the increasing prices on rising wages. Even if wages were to follow prices all the new productivity from new machinery from industry would go to the bosses. Those pushed into new industries would be paid lower wages since union power to raise wages was halted by a hard line from the bosses following the end of the world gold standard. They long term problem for capitalism is the tendency of real value profit rates to decline.

@andrewlinn7863 No because the bosses only need to pay the cost to socially reproduvce our labor for the next pay period. Only the workers ability to club together and struggle for higher wages can affect that price which decline during times of the business cycle when production declines and only rises when the bosses can't pay that social minimum. (not necessarily the minimum wage). All of the basic industry is basically under monopoly control. The bosses meet at the federal reserve banks to decide how to manage production in their area.

@andrewlinn7863 The social cost of a commodity is the social cost of the social labor power to produce it so what is the cost of that social labor power but the social cost to reproduce it. The special property of social labor is the ability to socially produce more than its social cost. Since the beginning of agriculture we've been able to produce a social surplus of production with culture from which comes art science engineering and religion. What we do socially after meeting the basic needs of food water and clothing of small groups of hunter gatherers. Capitalism and nationalism are just steps on the road of a natural process that gave birth to humanity.

Competition combined with monopoly tactics is how the capitalist win the battle of the marketplace and so those who became rich first went to the rest of the world and claimed it for themselves. This is the Imperialist stage of Capitalism its highest stage marked by war and revolution and battles between different groups of capitalist for the world market and sales of the overproduction of their nation. This is why the workers must develop not an immigration policy but a foreign policy. Just as we don't need an abortion policy but an overall pregnancy policy so workers can afford to have children. All the capitalist nation have declining birth rates are caused by the workings of capitalism only paying what is just enough to reproduce our labor for another pay period.
