@gumbihilt1333 We make no effort to record pregnancies but instead live births. The reason being is that you aren't a living breathing independent being before birth. Women come first in this situation not men, politicians, priests or a fetus. You want to give a right to life than abolish selective service and the death penalty first. Why give one of the most important responsibilities in life to someone who clearly doesn't want it?

@jcflores1774 Women have the Right to Life over a fetus. If men can't be required to give blood to save the life of another than why do women need to surrender their body to a fetus with questionable viability to begin with? Women have a right to plan their lives and family. If the state can't require the donation of blood then where does it get the right to tell women what they can and can not do with their body? If your own body isn't personal property that just what is? Lawyers need to stay out of medicine and pregnancy instead of grandstanding for crowds. .

@jcflores1774 The problem comes down to this if you getting an abortion for birth control reasons then you should do it early. If your doing it for medical reasons than why should it be illegal? Now can you tell what the other reasons besides those for getting abortions are? I'd like to hear a real life situation as to why a Doctor should tell a patient to go home if she insists on wanting to terminate? How would you write a law to seperate the birth control from medical reasons?

@frankvandorp2059 It's a simple enough question who's qualified to decide a women and her Doctor with medical training or the Grandstanding Politicians and the Church?
7
@mynameisben123 I don't see why it shouldn't. If you can't trust mothers and Doctors in general well who can you trust?
4
@saviet4222 It easy enough question who should decide when a pregnancy should terminate a women with medical assistance from her Doctor or grandstanding politicians and religious zealots?

@seanbentley7221 Even the Pope found it necessary to back off on ectopic pregnancy. I guess its no longer a mortal sin to end one.

@marhawkman303 Pregnancy is more dangerous than an abortion. So if the mother doesn't want to give birth for any reason that is the safer choice. Abortion isn't murder unless you want to call refusal to donate blood or a kidney murder because to be murder an individual must be involved and if the fetus is an individual it loses its right to the women's body.
2
@marhawkman303 Because it is already settled law that you don't have a right to any part of my body. So if the fetus is a natural person it loses its right to survive off the mother's body. Now wither it survives or doesn't survive after termination is of no consequence to the women involved. Once labor is induced that's then the end of the story. Now it would probably make cesarean sections illegal but it would keep you happy right? Would want to interfere in Gods work and make a mistake now would we?

@soilsurvivor It seems to me that's why the court system has been just been going around in circles. They say that the state has some kind of interest in late term regulations but then don't seem to be able to articulate exactly what that is. When you take a life for monetary gain or out of some kind of passion that is easily understood. Does anyone want to really admit they don't want to be a mother? Then again the actual number of abortions has been in decline most likely because of better birth control methods and availability but also because they just aren't done in 95% of counties as it is now. Those who do get them are mostly done medically so you can actually go online and see a Doctor who will give you a script just like codeine for a toothache. We still have a federal drug war on marijuana despite only a couple of states maintaining a total ban. .

@tylerlaroche2509 Now its going to open a national debate and those who made careers pandering to anti abortion forces will find out they may not have as many friends as they thought. The arrested a women in Texas on murder charges for having an abortion and quickly had to back off.

@marhawkman303 Like i said the law prevents your forced donation of body parts dead or alive. Why because its against some peoples religion. Otherwise you could be commanded to donate a kidney for the sake of those who would die without a transplant. How about we let you die at the side of the road after you get into an at fault car accident because you had a choice not to drive? Plenty of people use birth control to avoid abortions including birth control provided by planned parenthood. It's not you that dies giving birth either. Pregnancy is not without its risks and abortion is safer than childbirth.

@OrojinMusic One problem is that politicians are not Doctors. If a fetus was just a little human being all that would be necessary is when a women came in who didn't want to have a baby we'd induce labor right then and there and call it a day. Of course that would be an illegal abortion.

@Jessie Life began long before you as a human being were first conceived. So you can throw that idea out the door. Their is no Right to Life period. You can't legislate life into or out of existence short of nuclear war. We send people to jail for unlawful taking of human life. Tell me when its okay to take part of your body to save mine without your permission because I know of no law that would permit me to do that. Somehow though a part of a women's internal organs gets a special right that no one else has? I can't even demand you give me a DNA swab without a court order or fingerprint without just cause to arrest.

@frankvandorp2059 I don't think its easy to assess a persons intellectual capacity and even if possible what would that mean?
1
@frankvandorp2059 Just because a right is not directly mentioned does not mean you don't have it. Also if you go by originalism than women have no rights except to vote and you would only be allowed to own a powder and ball loaded musket. Obviously the Catholic and Conservative Churches are the ones behind the anti abortion movement with their belief that a soul is created at conception. They are the hard core who have waged terror attacks and blockaid clinics.

@frankvandorp2059 "A women and a Doctor should not interpret the Constitution." Sure what we need is professional lawyers overseeing even act of healthcare such that every medical decision is Constitutional. Lawyers like Supreme Court Justices are experts at providing healthcare. We need lawyers and judges on call at every emergency room.
1
@frankvandorp2059 Sorry I confused you the post was meant to mock a previous poster who said a Doctor and women were not qualified to interpret the constitution. The supreme court said it found "NO right to abortion in the constitution." In fact Roe only first appeared to give women a right to abortion as the court quickly found the hyde amendment constitutional. The court set itself up to be part of the POLITICAL struggle over abortion fo the next 50 years. Now is the time to discus how to enshrine abortion rights into law. In states were the tactics used to restrict abortions by passing confusing laws then judges and state officials should be called at all hours and time of day to the bedside by the attending physicians. .
