@timeWaster76 Castro the revolutionary that the US could not defeat.

shevashevasheva777 Actually he said, "If he is a Marxist I am not."

@tuberific454 Petersen understands zilch about politics or economics. Lenin was the first to see and break with the opportunism of the Social Democracy on the question of World War one. Imperialism remains the highest stage of capitalism. That is something that Lenin wrote a pamphlet on and can not be argued with. You are either for Imperialist war or against it along with violence within the workers movement that comes from capitalism.

@syourke3 We've published a newspaper."The Militant" since 1928. Lead the 1934 Minneapolis Teamsters General strike, fielded a US Presidential candidate since 1948. Our leaders meet with revolutionaries from the early days of the Cuban revolution. We defeated the FBI in Socialist Workers Party vs Attorney General.

@MsMattmatt24 Coming from someone pretending to be an Indian Chief that is really rich.

@ExPwner Like I said you and the bourgeois professors want to play definitions and word games to define capitalism out of its crimes and actions. People never lived individually like the male orangutan swinging from tree t tree eating low hanging fruit. So the argument about the cave man is flawed to begin with. Even the Japanese soldier hiding out in the Philippines raided the local population for some of his needs. Another bougois theory is scarcity. There is no reason to believe resources are scarce because we always discovered more and newer ways to use what we have as we are both part of nature and dependent upon nature. Capitalism has become characterised by gambling on capital value expressed as exchange value by an ever smaller greedy ruling class that makes decisions based upon profits. Capitalism with Chinese characteristics has the same flaws as American capitalism. Both are in decline because of the tendency for industrial profit rates to decline and.both want the other markets. The Imperialist era capitalism's highest stage is marked by the fighting over the world market by greedy ruling classes which leads to both war and revolution.

@syourke3 I believe the quote comes from a public argument were one of Marx's relatives claims he is a Marxist and Marx then replied if he is a Marxist then I am not because Marx disagreed with his relative. The reason for calling yourself a Marxist was because you disagreed with others like the Anarchists or LaSalle or Utopian Socialists.

@jgalt308 The spiritual part is found in his theory of alienation coming from commodity production and the profit drive. This is how the spiritual is connected to the material.

The actual cost of production is in labor time. The exchange value is something different as it is characterised by use including in other words need. Subjective value says the value is in the mind which is merely stating that nothing would have any value if living humans didn't exist. Or for those who like to overemphasize the individual if says only an individual can decide what something is worth. In which case anything that people use socially would have no value. Capitalism is characterised by modern industrial processes that are interconnected in many ways such that each relies on the other despite private ownership. Without labor operating the machinery of production everything would come to a halt. As you see the idea that things have only one value subjective or labor is a crude distortion of reality. It makes more sense to say that objects have both a labor value to find or create and a use or fetish value. Gold has a high price because of the labor needed to find and extract it. Its use and fetish value was in money and before money as a yellow metal for jewelry. Today is no longer used as money although the largest cache in the world is in the cellars of the US Federal Reserve Bank in New York. Gold is still used in jewelry and as an excellent non oxidizing conductor of electricity in microelectronics.

@ExPwner We've always labored since men first walked the earth and used primitive tools. Money was only a latter invention of the Ancient people of Samaria. Even then Capitalism didn't exist until the end of the middle ages in Europe. People who lived in cultures without a written language most likely engaged in trade that was a form of barter and since they wouldn't have written things down and not yet have the mathematical ideas needed for counting. Money is good as a universal medium of exchange. The capitalist invests in both fixed and circulating capital. Fixed capital is the machinery, tools, land ect. Circulating capital is the wages part that comes back when the workers spend their wages and the capitalist collects his receipts for product sold. The English King George didn't want the American colonist to import money so they had to secretly mint Massachusetts Pine Tree Shillings with the dates of the English Commonwealth. It isn't capitalism without modern Industries, the use of wage labor and commodity production. Living on a farm and making handicrafts to trade is NOT capitalism. All of capitalist industry must be set in motion because they are all interdependent on each other despite being privately owned. What does Marx say in the Communist Manifesto as the goal of the communist? Abolish Private Property the property used to exploit others. Not abolish money or machines. Money itself has changed over time. It began as banks issuing receipts for silver or gold and that the continued right up to the great depression. Some bosses use to pay us in script that was only usefully for items bought at the company store. Union Construction workers demanded to be paid in cash because of bouncing company checks. Today money is no longer connected to the value of a commodity rather it is a fiat currency much of which consists of numbers circulating between banks, government and corporate accounts.

@ExPwner Find someone else to play your childish word games with.

@ExPwner You wanted to talk value and deny the labor theory of value. Then you wanted to ague capital was just as necessary to produce as labor. Then I argue that capital in its form of money value wages and modern Industry was NOT always used in human cultures. If capitalism is a hokey game and feudalism a baseball game the only thing that could possible be the same is the labor of the players Have I missed anything you have to say now? Unless you want to admit subjective value is use value I think we are done here because I'm not going to deny that something needs to have a use value in the human mind before it can have value. Maybe you should go criticise your bourgeois professors and their theories for saving capitalism from the capitalists own actions.

@m3gAnac0nda Conspiracy theory? Sounds more like your the NAZI the were BIG on blaming the Jews for everything.

You can't have Democracy with a capitalist class whose class interests are diametrically opposed to the working class. The error of the Social Democracy and the Popular Fronts is the entry into the bourgeois government with a few posts for the Social Democrats that lead to the confusion that the capitalist state can be used by the workers.
1
@syourke3 So? When we run candidates for office we don't worry about 5 o'clock shadow like the American Professors of so called political science. Marx and Engels are credited for founding the communist movement not for running popularity contests.

The Domestic product is determined by money or exchange value instead of labor time, general skill and quality of goods produced. That is just one reason you can't measure everything in terms of money or exchange value. You also have capital goods being sold on the world market which aren't part of the domestic product.

Take the plunge join working class read "The Militant" and get in touch with the Communist League.

@jgalt308 The nature of man is that we are part of nature and we labor together as social animals to meet our needs with our hands and use our voice box to communicate with each other along with our bodies which are made to be natural marathon runners. After we have meet our needs to eat, have shelter, clothes and drink we create culture science, art and religion. We have also been creating a surplus which we leave to future generations along with culture. Money is just a medium of exchange invented by the ancient Sumerians. Its has taken many forms over time. Today lots of money is nothing but numbers in computers. The fact that think like Thatcher that socialism is about spending other people's money shows you have about zero understanding about how production takes place in the first place. Of course you wouldn't be alone because the modern bourgeois economist rejects John Locke and Adam Smith when it comes to labor being the source of value. Instead they think it is paradoxical that water sells for so little and a diamond so much but man would trade a diamond for water in the desert if his life depended on it. So they talk about abstractions like marginal value and play the scientist with graphs and mathematical calculations. This lead them to the credit default swap which was suppose to make them rich despite how the value of industrial stocks in the market moved. One of the grievances of the New England colonist was they were not allowed to import money because the King insisted it all be kept close to him in London. The King had been executed by the English Puritan revolution and the English Commonwealth declared. So this is when the Pine tree Shilling was minted in Massachusetts. The king sons was put back on the throne and all were amnestied except those 59 Commissioners of the House of Commons who signed the Death Warrant for the King. Ten were caught and executed, Cromwell had already died so his dead body was dug up and posthumously executed. The others went into exile in the Dutch Republic and Swiss Confederation along with the New England colonies. So before the revolutions to escape the Kings edict the Colonists of Massachusetts Bay minted pine tree shillings secretly with dates of the Englilsh Commonwealth. Of course why was the King executed he first took mechants money then promised to pay it back and went about the country destroying it for taxes. Now what do you think we should do to a ruling class that uses taxes to go around the world destroying it to make profits?
1
@ExPwner You've got yourselves convinced that capital must be producing value without labor and you can set prices as you please. This is why you allowed the credit default swap and now the block chain mining worthless special numbers swindle. You had yourselves convinced that the value of homes always rose. You were making money hand over fist thinking you'd died and gone to heaven until you drove the exchange value way above the labor value and the law of value took it down. Isn't it a bitch that all that paper value just disappeared. Just like the Dutch Tulip crisis of the 17th century. You've entered the era of the negative interest rate because trade doesn't produce real value. You've got junk bonds stored safely stored away in Federal Reserve vaults.

@ExPwner We all know the theory of the bankrupt neoliberals put everything up for sale in markets with a price tag on them and have unlimited private property rights defended by government then all will turn out fine like sliced bread before being wrapped up and those who make bad decisions will be punished by the market. Then of course for those who argue that this leads to a dystopia because of capitalist greed and that market decisions are determined by naked economic power Neo liberals then scold the capitalist class for not making the moral decisions but ones based upon short term profits for their small group of wealthy investor owners. You may have divorced gold from money but you can't divorce capitalism from money, wages and capital monetary value. Capitalism introduced competition in to the market with modern industry not the use of spears to hunt animals.

@jgalt308 The Militant is available for free on line and many Marxists classics are available at Marxist Internet Archive.

@tuberific454 Look who do you think you are kidding AI just takes what has already been concluded by others to make its decisions. Marx looks at Economics and industry being all interconnected why wouldn't you use central planning? You don't think if GM wants to buy Steel it goes to Walmart and shops for the best price? Every Modern Industry is dependent on others. The contract with each other as their way of central planning. All we do is make the secret planing public. It doesn't mean mistakes can't be made and plans can't be skewed to the benefit of privilege or that everything is best planned centrally to the last detail. That's why workers control is so important. Planning prevents people like Henry Ford shutting down plants because he wants to take his partners the Dodge brothers stock in the Ford company for cheap so he played like he had become an imbecile. It means that workers can move to different jobs or industries without them having to put their livelihoods at risk. You can't have both democracy for the working masses and capitalism for the ruling class. The economic interests between the two classes are just the opposite. The Radical Republican era ended in 1877 with the Hayes Tilden compromise betraying Blacks and the Great Railway strike which was suppressed with Federal Troops.
1
@tuberific454 Next thing your going to tell me is the Republicans are a Marxist Party. The Republicans represented the Northern Industrialist their progressive nature ended in 1877 the year of the Hayes Tilden compromise betraying the new Southern Republican Reconstruction governments to Democratic Party Terror and the Great Railway Strike which was put down with Federal Troops for fear that it was another Paris Commune in the making. .Stalin does NOT represent the continuation of Lenin's Party. Rather he came to represent a group of privileged and murderous bureaucrats who like the rightest leaders of the Second International who expelled the anti war elements expelled those who wanted to continue the communist course laid down by Marx and Lenin. Leon Trotsky the Organizer of the Red Army victory would lead the new Left Opposition. Stalin first forced Trotsky out of the Political committee than the Party than into internal exile and finial out of the Soviet Union itself. Stalin would go on to hold frame up trials of the old Bolsheviks and murder 1,000 of loyal communist in the Soviet Union and 100's in Spain. It was Stalin's idiotic theories and leadership that resulted in the NAZI victory in German. This is why he would become mockingly known as the Great Leader of Defeats.

@tuberific454 Lincoln came to power with the support of capital and a movement against slavery with the problem of the slavocracy wanting to divide the nation and go its separate way. The Russian revolution was a workers revolution against Czarism which the Russian capitalist were collaborators with. The very first Soviet Power came into being in 1905. The Czar went back on his promise of Democracy and crushed the 1905 Soviet. Then in 1917 on international women's day female textile workers would go on strike beginning a strike wave that would create new Soviets across the country among workers, soldier and peasants and result in the CZAR abdicating. Un like Lincoln who would lead a party and nation of capitalists, free farmers and wage laborers in a civil war against slavery this was a revolution that began with the wage laborers battling capital themselves. . . .

Not really we need those who are willing to bring the ideas of Marxism to the working class not more Professors talking about Marxism.
