The workers were divided into the Social Democratic and Stalinist Communist Party while Hitler was leading his brown shirt thugs using political violence against his Social Democratic and Communist opposition who refused to close ranks and fight against the fascist threat. Hitler never won any election and his party didn't win a majority in Parliament. Today in the US there is no mass labor movemnet threatening the bosses with a Socialist Revolution who then need to begin the use of fascist gangsters against the workers. The Democrats and Republicans are both parties of the bosses who are in a political crisis caused by the economic contraction and decline of capitalist world trade and production.

Fascist movements always arise in a revolutionary crisis as the vomit expelled from a dying capitalism. They are terrorist in a nature and do not come to power in elections built upon physical attacks upon the workers, jews, national minorities and political meetings. If Trump was a fascist within the Republican Party he would have settled political disputes with gangsterism like the way Pat Buchanan tried and failed at. Democratic Imperialist like Reich are angry because Trump has criticized them and their right to rule in the interests of the biggest profits for the bosses. @Mr22thou The problem with Reich's arguments are rooted in the assumptions of a capitalist system and capitalist class being self reformable that can escape crisis caused by the long term tendency of profit rates to decline and the breakup into warring national trade war blocs that set the stage for real war and even World War.. The liberal Reich just like the Conservative Sowell are all advocates of the so called marginal theory of value. This leads them to same conclusion of the bosses being controlled in their greed though moral arguments and monetary policies. Sowell argues for bosses big and small to be responsible and use government only for defense of property. While Reich argues for bosses using more control though their government to save themselves and their crisis ridden system. .

Social Service problem for workers are rooted in the private profit and private property system itself and can not be magically fixed by tax hike on the rich. One reason being is the predictability of a capitalist economy for ten years is just not possible. Social security needs to be treated as a pay as you go program. The working class needs to forget about trying to save for retirement and instead how to best protect itself from the next economic crisis. Their is no such thing as equality or a fair share under the profit system.

@Bobjtx The super rich avoid taxes by taking out loans from bankeers using their property as collateral instead. This way the pay no capital gains and no income tax. The property goes up in value with inflation so the loans just get rolled over.

This is complete BS no way can capitalism be fixed though a change in tax policy. Only class struggle produces real results for working people. The real lessons of history are to be found in the movements and class struggle organizations built by workers.
