Comments by "Kim O\x27Brien" (@kimobrien.) on "Ontario woman arrested, jailed in U.S. for driving with a Canadian licence" video.
The story is this Georgia cops are being allowed to play ICE and Border Patrol under 287g. They managed to take a simple speeding ticket and escalate it into an international incident where the cops violated the Geneva conventions. Way to go obviously the Supreme court ruling on setting a limit on police IQ is working well. Keep it up and people will be seeking political asylum in Mexico.

@patriotamerican3069 Unlike Canada immigration is a federal responsibility only. Once that Officer said, "In the state of Georgia...." Referring to her power in an Intentional matter. She violated Article one section ten. "No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation..."

@Ksch Koff Unlike Canada, Immigration is a federal responsibility not one for state or local meat heads.

Cops should be required to report to jail for the weekends.

@Ksch Koff The US Constitution prohibits Georgia from making its own foreign policy. Article 1 Section 10 "No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation..."

@Ksch Koff The laws regarding reciprocity of drivers licences are interstate compacts between the states the ones regarding Canadians are US federal law because states can't make their own treaties. The cop knew who the car was registered to before she stepped out of her vehicle because she recorded and ran the cars plate otherwise she'd be impounding a stolen vehicle. She asked for additional ID and when provided with that in addition to a valid licence she refused to accept it. The cops needed to stretch this into how do I know this is a valid license in other words it could be counterfeit because otherwise she would have been limited to handing out a ticket. A traditional Georgia speed trap works by a series of speed limit signs leading up to one a red flashing light on one of the old US highways like US 1 US 13 or US 17 The cop sits in wait on a side road follows you through all the speed limit signs an then the intersection busts you for doing 27 mph in a 25 mph zone or not coming to a full stop.

@Ksch Koff She exceeded the speed limit which she admitted to doing. The cop should have written a ticket and called it a day. Her drivers license was valid. If she produced an actual passport how would the cop know if it was valid either? Passports is just another document being issued by another country. They have numbers just like driver licenses. Its security measures would be just as unknown to the cop as the drivers license. Would he even have the ability to check the passport number? She produced a copy of the passport that also includes a number that can be checked with immigration to determine if she had entered the US legally and had not overstayed her electronic visa Its just another case of government overreach because it is possible and cops pushing for the right to demand ID at will. The original purpose of a drivers licences was to prove you could drive period not as a universal ID that cops could demand. The cops involved should be fired especially the supervisors. A new law should be written that for every new cop hired two cops should be fired. Obviously a maximum IQ test is not enough.

The can only legally ask if you've been convicted not arrested. Unless your becoming a cop they you must answer but it makes no difference in those cases. You could be arrested for treason but if there was only one witness you'd be welcomed into the PD.

Only certain government employers can even legally ask that question. That doesn't mean that an employer can't somehow find out. However the can't fire you for that so they would need to come up with another reason or claim the employee at will exception.. They can only ask if you've been convicted of a crime not just arrested. If its a private defense contractor then if it comes up it will be the government that does it with a security investigation.

The've been running speed traps in small town Georgia forever. Probably since they invented the police car. You would think they'd keep the local cops off the Interstates. Guess not.

They don't accept international drivers licenses to many drunk driving scammers.

Trump is not just the usual corrupt politician. He is a member of the ruling class himself. While they all agree on the need to keep capitalism they don't always agree with how to keep the system going. I anything some are angry for him paying to much attention to the working classes problems. We are only supposed to follow, vote for either party, and not get into politics ourselves. You can see with the last series of school workers strikes that that is beginning to change.

@mikepurdue7472 Have you considered a Brain transplant?
1
@patriotamerican3069 No, This is the result making local police into deputy immigration officers when that is a federal not a state responsibility.

There is no security issue. This is what happens when you let cops play ICE or Border Patrol under 287g. The only thing something like this does it make the country look like middle east dictatorship. CBC is a National Canadian TV and Radio network turning a speeding ticket into an international incident is going to drive Canadians away from coming her as tourists and make the country look like it's run by officer Barney Fife after consulting with Gomer Pyle.

You don't need an enhanced license to drive a car. I specifically renewed my CT license without using my passport because I oppose the Yellow Star. Montana is the last holdout against the national passport that Nancy Pelosi wants.

@Ksch Koff Obviously the cop either cheated on the maximum IQ test or was hired before implementation.

@Ksch Koff Their wouldn't be "identity theft" if the government hadn't decided to use Social Security numbers for ID. If you have an old card it says, "to be used for social security and tax purpose only" on the back. It has been so much of a problem that everyone who has medicare had to be issued a new number.
