They could end up hemorrhaging and dying of blood loss. We had laws against abortions before and they became hypocritical like the alcohol and marijuana prohibitions. The ulcer pill wasn't available 50 years ago. Today the ulcer pill is recommended for use in third world abortions by WHO.

Even in the US the cost of living varies from state to state but probably the biggest factor is do you live in a rural area or a big city. Very few people who come here are on the pennies on the dollar scale with those people most likely in subsistence agriculture. They will eventually want the same wages as everyone else. Capitalism always wants competition to hold down wages whether its native born unemployed or new immigrants. You can't expect the government to be doing you a favor by grabbing people off the street for deportation. Neither Trump nor the Democrats want everyone deported or all immigration halted. They had not even said if they wanted a specially designed cake or just a plane cake. It was only later that he offered to sell a nondescript cake at the mediation level. He should have been prepared for this after the legalization of gay marriage. You can assume that may imply recognition as US soldiers but it's not an actual statement. Then section 3 of the 14th Amendment. "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. Plus it is perfectly legal for anyone to enter legally while pregnant and have their child born here. In Canada they will refuse entry if you can't pay for the child's birth in cash or credit. The citizenship laws of countries like Norway and Japan are different even being their legally and born their doesn't get you citizenship. Lincoln didn't make slavery the issue at first because he was committed to holding the country together. Karl Marx wrote Lincoln and urged him to free the slaves as a way to win the war. Whether that influenced Lincoln or not I don't know. Most people thought it would be a short war. A few musket volleys and canons shot off before an agreement was reached. The war dragged on and Lincoln decided to issue the emancipation proclamation as a way help crush the current rebellion in those areas in rebellion only. It also resulted in putting 100,000 black men under arms in union uniformers. Economically the Black community as a whole is still in more poverty than other races. If it's like the claim many make that small business accounts for many jobs. They also think of tax money as their money to spend for what they want like the US Military's 800 foriegn bases protecting their foreign investments. The US government either taxes or goes into debt. If taxes don't provide enough revenue than they print up bonds. These bonds are seldom talked about because mostly those with money who should have been paying taxes don't pay taxes but buy bonds for a guaranteed profit when the 30 year bond matures. Another buyer of bonds is the Federal Reserve bank. At the beginning of the week the bureau of printing and engraving prints the bonds that will go to the US Treasury at the end of the week they will print Federal Reserve Bank notes (US Money) for the Federal Reserve Bank. So the Federal Reserve Banks now can now buy 30 year US Treasury Bonds in a paper swap with the US Treasury getting those Federal Reserve notes. Since the development of the computer a lot of money never actually appears as paper but as a record in a US national bank or Federal Reserve computer.

To be the most effective movement we need to include all workers regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, immigration status and eye color. Witch hunting based on immigration status can only divided us and make us weaker when strength is needed most. The capitalist have always tried to play one group off against another. Native born vs Foreign born. German v. Irish Irish v. Polish Black v. White Skilled v Unskilled. History shows you can only win on a basis of uniting all workers not going on a witch hunt against the foreign born to help the unskilled. I am reading Che Guevara Economics and Politics in the Transition to Socialism by Carlos Tablada. You can find that at pathfinderpress.com I don't think we need to set up some special officialdom to get to socialism. I think it will be more about a transition in the way we think about each other and act as we organize throwing off the old ways and methods of capitalism. Much like the transition Black people went through when they threw off segregation and woke up to their own value as human beings.

If you go someplace where people don't know what a US $100 dollar bill will buy they may not want to trade it for something as common as a dozen ears of corn. The might however trade those dozen ears for five potatoes. The advantage money has over barter is that it has a universally recognized value that can be conveniently divided. So instead of having to trade 5 potatoes for 12 ears of corn I can use 60 cents to buy either 5 potatoes or 12 ears of corn or a fixed price of 12 cents per potato or 5 cents per ear of corn. With rise of capitalism and the nation state most nation states have their own money. Merchants in one country are hesitant or may out rightly refuse to accept money from another country. Trade between the capitalist countries is carried out through use of banking trades of currency since companies and not countries do the actual trading. Trade in the Eastern bloc and Soviet Union was done by barter because barter is a much better way to keep track of agreed upon value traded between different countries enterprises.

The oldest form of class society it still exists in remote areas or secretly. Feudalism is a step above slavery since peasants work three days for a lord master, three days for themselves and a seventh day for rest and church. Capitalism A class system where capitalist own the property needed to produce while a property less class does the producing for money wages that pay the worker to survive to the next pay period. This has been the most recent and is the dominate class system today. Socialism will replace the current system by eliminating private property in the means of production.and wage payments as the sole way in which to provide for the necessities of life. Communism a further extension of socialism with out any wages paid and only voluntary work.

Once the King was eliminated the Bourgeois became the ruling class. The middle class today is made up of professionals (Engineers, Doctors, Professors, ect) and small businessmen. What Marx predicts is that this middle class sinks into the working class. That business size moves towards monopoly. That return on investment drops as machines replace labor. That the workers can not buy back what they produce. That capital replaces skilled labor first and labor become more simple yet more alienated.

Fewer government workers? Fewer laws and regulations? Local government is the largest employer followed by state and then the federal government. Plus how do you count government employees? Lots work is contracted out like road building and military weapons contracts. The US military has 1.3 million active duty troops and 800 foreign military bases. The one group of government employees we all deal with every day is the US Post office. They have about 1/2 million workers.

  439. Because profits come first. You can't protect private property without violence or the threats of violence. In the US healthcare is a profitable business for Insurance companies. It is run the way you would run GM. They set up things such that everything is delivered on a just in time basis. A close count is kept concerning the number of hospital beds, medical equipment, trained workers like nurses and doctors. You could train extra medical workers and have them working elsewhere but that would upset the labor market. You could have Doctor Engineers but who's going to pay for the cross training. The same goes for nurses they could also be cross trained as school teachers. People could be rotated around so they don't forget their training. That won't work with capitalism because employment is controlled by the bosses and they see most of healthcare besides their own as nonessential they can always hire the unemployed at the factory gate if a worker dies for whatever reason.

The Communist Manifesto was written in 1848 by Karl Marx for the International Workingmen's Association (First International). The European and American Socialist Parties of the Second International were founded around 1899. These parties were called all inclusive parties because they included anyone who claimed to be a socialist. So they would have Fabian socialist, Utopian Socialist, Reformists Socialist and Revolutionary Socialists. It was World War one (1914) that would definitely split all these Parties up between those for and those against the war although. After the success of the Russian revolution of Oct 1917. Other parties of revolutionist only would be founded as Communist Parties in the third or Communist International. In 1919 two Communist Parties were founded in the US the Communist Party and the Communist Labor Party. The would merge into one party but then change the parties name to the Workers Party for a brief time due to the Communist Party being illegal for a short time. With the death of Lenin in 1924 the Russian Party would begin to split eventually into Stalinists and Trotskyists over questions of Party Bureaucracy, Democracy and Policy questions. It may not be all that easy but you can find original documents from the time period by doing google searches. The American Trotskyist began publishing TheMilitant.com in 1928 after being expelled from the Communist Party of America and then founding the Communist League of America (left opposition). You can find .pdf s of the paper back to 1928 on TheMilitant.com website.

Anything a doctor does even prescribing an aspirin can be deadly so that's why they have such latitude. Unless the baker can claim to be a physician also that analogy doesn't apply. If he had started from the premise that I am a Christian baker rather than I don't make wedding cakes for same sex weddings he'd be in a better position to refuse. Also if there was no law at the time then the case would be thrown out as ex post facto law. His business was set up as a corporation so the idea that a corporation needs free speech beyond the political level and for core religious institutions like a church is dubious at best. There is an exemption for churches in the discrimination law already. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." It does not say that religion trumps all anymore than elsewhere does it say free markets trump all. The law hasn't established a religion by requiring him to bake a custom cake nor does baking a cake require him to send a religious message.

He refused that compromise. Past cases where companies have sought an exemption based on religious belief as a way around public accommodation laws have failed. If you start passing out passes to businesses for exemption based on religious belief where does that end? They court rejected that in the Newman v. Piggy Park Enterprises. Prior to the civil rights struggle of the 1950's and 1960's Black people often bought a book called the green book which listed which business's that would serve them when they were out of town. So should same sex couples have to hide when ever they seek a service or a custom made object? They man refused outright not waiting for a request that he could not full fill like say a plastic same sex couple instead he raised that issue later.

There were the Hollywood blacklists, the Taft Hartley law, the Attorney General's list of subversive organizations, the Smith (Gag) Act and Communist control act of 1954. Every where people wanted a job or government help people were required to sign or swear to government loyalty oaths. People were hauled before Congressional committees and were told that they must give the names of communists they knew. If you refused on 5th Amendment grounds you were given contempt of congress charges with a one year jail sentence. Most of these laws and the FBI's Cointelpro Programs were either found unconstitutional, unused or scraped by the early 1970's. A combination of the Cuban revolution, the Black rights fight, and the Anti war movement pushed back J Edgar Hoover's spies and their mission impossible tactics. Many of these tactics were exposed in Socialist Workers Party v Attorney General. after which a permanent Injunction was issued ending 40 years of FBI opened ended investigation and police state tactics. The reason they haven't returned to using these tactics is two fold. One is they are economically expensive with little to no return. The second is because they don't see themselves as needing them considering the political costs for those measures. if the class struggle heats up they may very well return to at least the secret parts of those measures because the real target of that kind of stuff is the trade unions.

Manufacturers who want warranty repair work done set the price with a take it or leave it attitude. As technologies advance products become more reliable and prices drop after taking inflation into account as the time needed to manufacture goes down. I remember putting water in the battery, changing spark plugs, the points, burned out headlights, the voltage regulator, setting the valve gap, a manual transmission and no power steering.

If China or Russia were to invade either Canada or the US they'd have to come by air or water. You'd need a giant armada with a logistics distance of thousands of miles. If you coming by sea you can't easily hide large troop transport ships. If you come by air you'd need to have lots of fighters on aircraft carriers to prevent your air troop transports form being shot down by fighter jets. Much easier for any combination of invaders to use ICBM's first and possible follow that up with an invasion. Except why invade if the war was over trade and if you were to totally destroy the enemy. An ICBM war is considered unwinnable because no one can guarantee that their ICBM's can hit the other side before they can launch a retaliatory strike with the othersiders missiles still in mid air.

You don't make a profit because you would have to own private property which is property used to exploit others since your not hiring anyone and can't exploit yourself than you can't make a profit. Workmans comp insurance would be a required purchase but you would not be able to collect the insurance should you hurt yourself while working. Plus your income would be subject to federal income and possibly state income tax.

One carrier is all that's needed. You can buy phones that work on multiple carriers now. The cost of operating a phone or internet network is based on using the full capacity. It costs about the same to have the network carrying a full data load or no data at all. You can add towers or small 5G service in areas that are currently dead because you don't have to justify building out the network to make a required profit rate. Now when we build things we keep track of the labor time needed to make things. Should we charge you for the phone at more than the full cost of production or less than the full price? How about the cost of the data transferred? See the idea with socialism is taking things out of the market and making them available to everyone. Maybe we organize repair shops or maybe your phone goes into a machine that auto fixes it or maybe the phone is recycled somehow and you get another phone. What if the phone electronics and screen are all built in one process with non scratch and no break glass? Right now people drop phones and the glass in the screen breaks or the screen gets scratched and the battery eventually won't hold a charge. You can't fix micro electronic chips but only replace them. Good luck changing chips which are soldered to multi layer boards and getting everything to fit back inside.

You can easily spend thousands of dollars and then find out your idea is a dud.

  505. For those not from the US. Immigration is a federal responsibility and Border Patrol is a federal police agency so it actions are suppose to be the same in every state. Border Patrol is not suppose to get involved in enforcing state laws. Conflicts between state and federal governments do occur and Montana has opposed making their drivers licenses into a national ID. They are the last state holding out against that. Traffic laws are enforced by state and local police. There is no reason to believe foreign visitors will be treated differently depending upon the state you visit. The most likely reason for the American Police to stop someone is for exceeding the speed limit and driving while intoxicated. .

During the Great Recession it lasted for 99 weeks in some states.   531. The Supreme court serves the purpose of judicial review and settling disputes between two or more states. It doesn't like being accused of making new law (which it did many times in the 1960's and 1970's) because that is Congresses job. People who cross at other than at a port of entry either have already been deported and can't re-enter, are unaware of the law and think they must enter that way, have been taken prisoners by drug smugglers or use a port of entry and cross with fake documents. Also you have the problem of making children born here responsible for their parents actions. They call that corruption of blood and the constitution also outlaws that.   548. Does the FBI write speeding or parking tickets? No. The reason being is their jurisdiction doesn't extend to what are state jurisdictions. Border patrol gets exceptions from the 4th Amendment so they can perform customs and immigration inspections at the border. That's why their jurisdiction should not extend past the border. There was no reason to suspect these people crossed at other than a port of entry as citizens or non citizens.
