A small group can't just walk off without being fired and blacklisted by the railroads. They have the railway slave labor act to contend with.

@AlanTheBeast100 The problem is the profit drive of the capitalist bosses. The rate of profit in industry declines as machine replace skilled labor with unskilled labor.

That's the way capitalism works the rate of profit is gotten very low because they have gotten rid of so many workers the capital value is high they don't want to reinvest and they just want to cut labor costs and wait until the everything collapses and then demand a bailout.

@williamedwards1528 The bosses let whole industry decline in the pursuit of profits. The don't want the workers to control the industry because then the rate of profit would decline.

The happen because of the drive for profits over all else. To drive profit their way the bosses must cut labor time yet because the capital value keeps rising the rate of profit keeps dropping as the amount of labor that can be exploited becomes less. This is why the bosses let industry go into decline and once it becomes to much of a problem for the capitalist system itself than the bosses go hat in hand for a bailout from the government. This is why on international scale railroads have to be nationalized because the market capitalist system doesn't work for highly capitalised industries.

@Robbedem The capitalist are driven by the need to profit and that's why they let every industry to either go into decline or replace it with another one. Hundreds of railroad miles have been abandoned and replaced with trucking because capitalist can make profits on trucks and building highways while getting government to pay for all the roads and bridges with a tax on diesel and gas. They then let the highway system decline because they want to cut taxes and invest in new ways to cut costs which is the road to bigger profits. They have decided that Elon Musk is a genius at making profits so they just finished sending up a rocket and star ship into space and it blew up. They then cheered because Musk says he needs to break things first. So while the destroy the earth in the interests of profits they promise to go elsewhere to do more of the same only better.

@jeffreysnyder290 That's why we say the workers need to take control of industry with our unions and run it for human needs and create a labor party to take government out of capitalist hands.

@notthatdonald1385 They can't do that without laying the political groundwork as to why they can't use their billions in profits for the investment.They would face public hearings where the railroad workers would demand to be heard though their unions. The unions would question the reductions in crew sizes and the running of longer trains with no crew members in the rear.

@karlrovey A successful strike at anyone terminal quickly spreads as trains are prevented from moving into that terminal such that the end up blocking movement throughout the whole system of railroads. This is what the government and rail bosses fear. They have awoken a sleeping giant in rail with their policy's of capitalist greed and declining profit rates in basic industries.

What Congress needs to do is repeal the RailRoad Slave Labor Act take the Federal Courts and the President out of the right to strike profit hungry Rail Bosses.
