Annie Springer Most US negotiations start with demands like what is in the Cuban Democracy Act. That is a non starter. They basically say you must dissolve your government before we end the blockade and no third party government may trade with Cuba until we give the say so. Did you see a single policeman in the video? The also failed to mention that most people own their homes, get guaranteed food rations, free education and healthcare. They find a single over weight guy saying he is hungry.

Annie Springer All the US government is asked to do is end the trade restrictions. That's not the same as saying ever company must trade. All these restrictions are based in the Trading with the Enemy act. How many US soldiers died in Vietnam and Korea? How many Chinese volunteers came across the boarder of Korea to fight. Yet China and Vietnam have most favored nation status trade with the US. How many US soldiers died in the Cuban revolution? I guess you would have to count a few airmen flying Alabama national guard bombers repainted with Cuban markings. Any CIA agents would fall under the rules of war as spies just like Nathan Hale.

Annie Springer If we had to survive on company pensions most of us would have nothing despite the promised made. That's why social security is necessary as is universal healthcare. You can not rely on the promises of the employers to pay a pension or provide healthcare.

@maleitch A better question is what happens to every capitalist society ultimately? It goes into a self induced profit crisis that it can't escape. Million thrown out of their jobs and sharp decline in production. How do the capitalist "fix" their problem? By world war. If you can't totally defeat them in the market place than you move onto the military battle field. Each side straining to cranking out more war ships, bombs, and airplanes ever faster from factories formally idled by the profit crisis.

@herbalmaharaj8790 If their so prosperous how come they like the US were totally unprepared for the coronavirus? Why can't they train 10,000 foreign doctors in London, Brussels, Paris or Berlin at no direct cost to the student for the poor countries? Like the small Island of Cuba can? Sure they have state paid universal healthcare that doesn't go beyond their borders. For the rest of the world all they have is Imperialist charity funds. After all the gold, diamonds, latex and other raw materials they and the US stole from Africa, Asia and Latin America you would think that they could at least train more Doctors for their former colonies.

@sparksmcgee6641 Right if they had company pensions like in the US the wouldn't be worth the paper they are written on. In the US they promise private company pensions and then they either don't pay, because they closed up, moved away, the plan went bankrupt, inflation makes it worthless or you can't qualify. That's why with Social Security the bosses can weasel out of paying for your retirement.
