Victoria Cornel West went there to have himself arrested. He admitted that in the video himself. If your against all that claimed why surrender yourself to the enemy? After all the fascists always have ties if not outright dual membership in the police agencies. You might as well surrender to the KKK or NAZI's when you give yourself up to the police.

If he wanted to point that out by getting arrested than he could just go to any prison or jail and get himself arrested. I'm sure the'd be happy to take him prisoner. Then again the police stopped arresting people and filling the jails during the civil rights movement throwing a monkey wrench into Doctor Martin Luther King's nonviolent strategy. King also held an undefended meeting and when the racists showed up he had to call Bobby Kennedy to get protection. Kennedy had to hurriedly deputize mailmen as federal officers to prevent those inside from being killed. At no time did he say that he was protesting the prison system. In the first part of the interview he complains about the police not being their to protect the church service and in the second part he says we were they were their to get arrested but the police pulled back. The police follow orders. That's the first skill they expect from the police. Now if the police arrest Professor Cornell West and they know who he is you don't think they will treat him the same way they treated Freddy Gray do you? They'll have him in the squad car and they'll ask him, "Professor West is it comfortable back there?"and he'll say, "Oh yes my brother I am very comfortable." Then they'll ask him, "Are the handcuffs too tight Proffessor West?" and he'll respond, "Oh no my brother there just right." Eventual he will wind up in front of a judge or a bail commissioner. They'll set bail and he'll ask, "Do you take American Express or Discover Card?" A completely different experience from what a black teenager can expect when being arrested.

Victoria I saw the last antifa action in Berkley. A truck pulling up handing out clubs and shields saying, "NO HATE" and then attacking unarmed people just wanting to have political conversations is clearly a sign that those people were actual fascist themselves. Since they are hidden by masks and the police made no arrests it points to the possibility of the whole thing being organized by the police themselves and police involvement in things like that is almost always assured through informers and provocateurs to begin with. Now once again if you listen to Professor Cornell West himself in the video he thanks antifa and anarchists for saving him and others from being crushed. Were theses antifa the same as in Berkley? I'm not really sure but this whole strategy is wrong because it relies on only a few people willing to be arrested and a only a few armed saviors if the arrest strategy fails. It completely ignores the masses of people who can be brought out to protest against these kind of fascist actions. We want to always keep any type of violence that occurs clearly the responsibility of the police or fascists groups. The police and the fascist don't care about free speech because all they want is to beat everyone into submission. Now I was a young person around in the 1970's and we made similar mistakes but Professor Cornell West and Amy Goodman should know better. Give this some thought and go from there.

Suspicion of selling untaxed cigarettes? It's a sin tax because everyone knows cigarettes are bad for you. New York state tax is $4.35 and add the city tax of $1.50. Add them up and you get $5.85. Now he could have bought his cigarettes in Jersey and paid a $2.35 tax or maybe he bought them online from a company in Missouri and paid only S0.17. Anyway he paid at least some tax but they arrested him because he was selling individual cigarettes without a tax stamp. How many people buy from Amazon and don't pay the state sales tax? Yet do they send out the cops to spy on you and arrest you for not paying your tax because most state laws state you must pay the sales tax even if Amazon doesn't collect it. The city settled for 5.9 million not including the cities legal costs. That means the city will have to sell about a million packs of cigarettes to break even.
