  2. Democratic liberals are now the ones making moves against free speech. As an example the movement against the 1st amendment to supposedly keep big money out of politics by removing the ability of organizations from entering the political debate. This is to be done through a Constitutional Amendment. A recent decision by the democratic members of the federal election commission which will require the Socialist Workers Party to turn over names of contributors and make them public. This will create a ready made enemies list for employers and anyone else who finds what's printed in the parties associated newspaper the militant or the associated publisher pathfinder press objectionable. The recent efforts in Berkeley by antifa being organized with clubs and shields marked "No Hate" chasing and attacking unarmed people who wanted nothing more than to discuss politics. These efforts under the guise of preventing free speech for fascists will be turned back on the working class in an effort to keep us out of politics. In Connecticut a small rally of Clergy demanded that a list of fascists hate groups be made into a terrorist list and then outlawed. Of course anyone who disagrees with whoever is outside of the two official parties could then be targeted. We've seen this before when the Smith "gag" Act was passed in the late 1930's to stop German Fascists in America and was then used in the early 1940's by the Democratic Party administration of FDR to send 18 members of the Socialist Workers Party and Teamster's union to federal prison. This action was actually endorsed by the Communist Party USA at the time. They would see themselves fall victim in the 1950's doing much longer prison sentences with the same law being used until it was finally ended in the late 1950's.

  15. We have the experience of government writing special laws against free speech for German NAZI's before WW2. It was called the Smith 'gag' Act. The first people arrested were actually NAZI's and they were found not guilty. The next people were Trotskyists members of the Socialist Workers Party and the Teamster's Union. The actual trial transcript of Party Leader James Cannon was and still is published in, "Socialism on Trial". A large protest by union locals nationwide was organized. The comrades did 18 months in prison. The Communist Party USA hailed the convictions as necessary for the war effort. They spent the whole war being the best strikebreakers money or should I say Stalin could buy. At the end of the war they announced the permeate victory of the Soviet Union and an end to the class struggle. During the 1950's the Communist Party being rightly hated by most of the working class had the same law now used against them with long sentences of five years. They claimed about 100,000 members in 1949 and by the time of the Cuban revolution turned back the second red scare the had maybe a 1,000 members. Now we aren't going to provide lawyers for the fascists if they need them the capitalist will provide them. If the set up a table and try recruiting people for murder by using the words you said they'll be arrested for murder solicitation which is already illegal. If you're interested in more on that subject I suggest Fascism What It Is and How to Fight it by Leon Trotsky. Mostly there are already enough laws to arrest Fascist for their actions and no new ones are needed. Remember they only got 500 people for the biggest national action in decades and the counter protest around the country way out numbered them.

  27. If he wanted to point that out by getting arrested than he could just go to any prison or jail and get himself arrested. I'm sure the'd be happy to take him prisoner. Then again the police stopped arresting people and filling the jails during the civil rights movement throwing a monkey wrench into Doctor Martin Luther King's nonviolent strategy. King also held an undefended meeting and when the racists showed up he had to call Bobby Kennedy to get protection. Kennedy had to hurriedly deputize mailmen as federal officers to prevent those inside from being killed. At no time did he say that he was protesting the prison system. In the first part of the interview he complains about the police not being their to protect the church service and in the second part he says we were they were their to get arrested but the police pulled back. The police follow orders. That's the first skill they expect from the police. Now if the police arrest Professor Cornell West and they know who he is you don't think they will treat him the same way they treated Freddy Gray do you? They'll have him in the squad car and they'll ask him, "Professor West is it comfortable back there?"and he'll say, "Oh yes my brother I am very comfortable." Then they'll ask him, "Are the handcuffs too tight Proffessor West?" and he'll respond, "Oh no my brother there just right." Eventual he will wind up in front of a judge or a bail commissioner. They'll set bail and he'll ask, "Do you take American Express or Discover Card?" A completely different experience from what a black teenager can expect when being arrested.
