  1. Wow biomass (ie WOOD) is terrible. Burning trees being 'carbon neutral' is just bullshit math - it's one of the worst net air quality pollutants - and not particularly efficient - and leads to clearcutting, which causes environmental issues unrelated to CO2. Its probably worse than fracking (given the BTU yield and cleaner burn). its a deeper subject and I'm not pretending to be all knowing but its an extremely controversial fuel source. It being 'waste' can be done BUT - there just isn't enough wood waste and in practice, biomass plants always end up leading to increased clearcutting, erosion etc. when they are used at any relevant scale. Wood is a dumb source of electricity. OH also the soil erosion from logging loses a lot of carbon as well. They don't count that.
