  1. Watching this as a German that lived his childhood at the countryside in a craftsman family, I can confirm this helps your kid getting to be a competent human! We played unsupervised in the woods all the time, build dams in the creek, climbed trees, build tree houses, ect. Our parents just wanted to know where roughly where we are, and told us to be back at 7pm (when the church bell rings for Quitting time) If we weren't home until half hour later... Oh boy you got some trouble! Dad's coming for us and dragging us away on our earlobes! That told us to be self sufficient, reliable, honest and responsible for ourselves big time! Seeing kids being supervised 24/7 makes me disappointed! Fuck off parents! Let your kids make failures, otherwise they don't learn shit!
