  1. This happens if the VFD is not properly adjusted, or just cheep Chinese junk. The VFD has to adjust it's parameters in conjunction with the magnetic properties of the motor. (just asynchronous motors) Because the motor is builds for it's specific speed and load on a fixed frequency and voltage. If you change especially the frequency, u also change the magnetic response between the windings and the rotor cage. Her in europ we then just get problems with windings sparking over, VFDs cooking off and emv complains (Electromagnetic compatibility) Never heard about bearings sparking over, must have to do with different constructions of the motors, or the way the grids are constructed. In europ we ground the shitt out of everything, maby this helps?
