@davidcolin6519 It's not that it can't be made!
It's the viability that's the problem.
It increases complexity and afford to make, and doesn't give back much benefits and adds new problems.
I am myself build stuff like that all the time just because it's a fun challenge, not because it's revolutionary.
I guess that was his purpose also.
But then comes someone that doesn't understand engenering and think that's the next best shitt after sliced bread, and convince him to promote his stuff, or dose it for him.
Sry to brake your enthusiasm about revolutionary inventions that kept suppressed by evil corporations for profit...... It's not that!
This stuff was made multiple times over the last 200 years, and it was not successful for reasons.
Engineers built a multitude of engines with all sorts of levers and cogs.
In fact, the first gas engine from Nicolaus August Otto, (the inventor of the Otto cycle) had no crank but a long ratched rack to drive the flywheel. It worked fine, but it was quickly replaced by a conventional crank, but with a linear guided rod end, like a steam engine.
That was quickly replaced by today's standard configuration, even with slow moving open crank engines. Why if such a guiding system is such a good idea???
Because more affort for to less advantage, if at all!
In reality, alot of things that are good in theory are bad in practice.

@matthewpeterson3329 I don't know where the emotional part is, but maby it just bugs me that so much people can't use there brain, and instead like to get hyped with spectacular special bla blub....
Thing is, it's not at all frictionless, the rings make up for 50% of friction in the piston group.
So that's the rings, (mostly the oil rings) and the skirt and the rist pin (wich is negligible)
What I would like to see on the comments are technical debate about specific aspects of this construction, and what those could be beneficial for.
Like the compressors, those are for low oil, or oil less applications where you can't rely on the skirts for guiding. How much rpm can you pull on those ptfe seals, and what surface on the bore is good for that?
Maby a smooth bore with chrome plating?
You can Single point cut such a shape smooth easily, but you can't hone it.
Wich surface treatment would you think would be viable for a production, combustion engine in that making?
Honing a cross hatch is pretty much out of the question.
Or how would you do that?

Independent of your collaboration with those guys, I already have found them on my search for modern wool clothing, and that part is superb!
I slowly transition to just wool, because it's so much more comfortable for me!
Cotton clothing just feels sticky and sweaty for me, and synthetic stinks, literally!
The cheaper Chinese made gear they sell is ok for the price, but I wish they do some items in high quality!
I have the big assault pack, and it's a nice concept and Hase a good cut, but the quality is just ok, I use it lightly for Hiking and wild camping, and it already shows some wear...
But it was cheap! If they have this in nice, I would happily pay 3 times the price! 🤗
It's so hard to find quality these days, even if you throw your money at them!

I work with industrial emergancy Generators, those get a cold start every month, run 1 hour than stay until next month.
The Oil and Filters get changed every year after just 12 hours.
The Main stream Oil Filters on this particular engine are mounted upside down, so no chance of prefilling, and they empty on the primary after every month.
We head to rebuild this 30 year old Iveco/Fiat straigt 6 (12Liter displacement) because the O rings in the sleeves where leeking coolent into the crank case.
We did change the bearings for good messure, but that wouldn't have been necessary.
They looked like from a car engine that drove 100k, slight wear marks, but far from worn.
I guess it depends on the engine construcktion, but generaly speaking in normal service routines preefilling filters is not necessary, i think you can do more wrong than good with this practice.
A college of mine hase that bad behavior of prefilling the fuel filter with the old filter because of laziness.
A customer head a stuck Injector after this college did a service.
I changed that bad Injector and out of curiosity dismantled it, and what you know, there was a paint flake stuck in the pilot valve, same (Baldwin) red color as the fuel filters.... 🤔

I have to Intervene on the degradation of lithium ion batteries!
The cycle dependent degradation you mantiont is not correct, on paper it's more like 10% degradation for 1000 cycles at more or less 100% discharg rate!
At 80-90% discharge it goes up to something like 1500 to 3000 cycles for 10%, and then you have 90% of the initial capacity left.
Now sure that's for ideal conditions, if you have them sit long time fully charged or bad temperatures you get worse!
In practice those numbers are pretty spot on!
I have a little solar tracker with just 1 18650 cell on, the tracker consumes so much power that the cell is barley enough to go to the next sunny day.
I have that running for now 3 years, and the cell Hase approximately 500 cycles with 80-100% discharge behind it, and alot more with partial discharges, even mutiple over discharges, I checked the capacity multiple times over the years and it hase degraded just 10% to it's initially capacity.
And I have an e bike for 2 years now, I drove it for 1 year continues to work every day and half year in the summer, for every trip I drained it 90% (66km, and 400 meters elevation, 350 cycles) and I have tryed several times after my trip home, how much range is left by driving a short trip around my village, and noticed a decrease of 5km in range! And the track around my village is relatively low in alleviation (50meters for one round)
So it's less then 10% degradation even with the worse of a comparison between range and power needed.
For example, on relative flat terrain like the trip around my village, this bike drives 160-180km.
So the 10% for 350 cycles is definitely on the conservative side!
20% at under 1000 cycles is even in practice not realistic!
But I agree, lithium ion batteries are not suited for stationary applications! Way to much recourse and energy goes into ther production to be viable for such a task!
Edit: my tracker batterie is also fully charges during 3 months in summer, and I noticed that most of the degradation did come from that! In normal cycling it had no measurable degradation!

@Leotv1948 But think about the time spans, the romans are less then 2 tousend years away, and some of the left over structures where used further until today, they where never buried.
Imagine what is left over of a culture after more then 10 thousand years.
Imagine what is left of us if abandoned for a few tousend years and maby have some glacier role over it!
Our steel and concrete stucktures are rotten to dust and even our plastic waste would be buried under sediments.
The most likely thats left are landfills, but only if luckily not eroded away.
Archiology is a very patchy subject, in the Trias and Jura are time spans where nothing bigger then a cat is found, in which the whole history of mankind fits in!
Yea, nomads could have technically built those stucktures if given enough time and resources, but nomads are nomads because the environment in a confined space can't feed them for long enough, so they have to move at some point. Thinking they could gather enough resources, to come together to build such monuments with such a lifestyle is so absurd!
Do you know of any modern nomads that do anything remotely like that?

The only thing I don't like about this video is that everything is about the $ers not the energy or resources!
For example, if you spend 100$ on a person that makes a item out of 1kg of steel that lasts 20 years, and the only energy else required is some extra calories for the human, the overall economic impact is basically down to the steel.
If you produce the same 1kg steel item for 10$ in a factory, that uses 1$/ item on human labor, but 9$ for energy out of coal, gas ect. you may have just used 1/3 the energy the human did to make it, but the item just lasts 2 years. Then the effort of even producing or recycling it is half of the item made by a skilled human.
Reproduceing the item 5 times more makes it even worse!
Underline is.. Fossil energy is so dirt cheap, making stuff 5 times more often is cheaper than making somthing efficiently!
We humans have to change our minds from cheap, to efficient in alot of ways, not just energy!
If you use a plastic bag 3 times, instead of throwing it away after one use, you made it 300% efficient.
It's alot of Suttle things that really make a difference!

Pretty simple!
It dosen´t matter how many digits the number hase.
If you have an odd number, and multiply by 3, plus 1 you always get a even one.
The posebilety of getting a odd one next, is less then 50%.
So you are going always down, no mater how high the number was!!!
Seems like a homeopathic thing for mathematicians!
You know it´s hopeless, but you just want to belive there is more to it.
You can see the Repetition in the charts clearly, those indicate... it,s always the same!
The other thing he mantiont with the Po´lya Conjecture is just a stupid outgrowth as the fascination with prime numbers.... it´s useless, pointless, and you can make up stuff like that as much as you want.
If you want, you can construct a formula that crosses a certain specification, at a number as high as you want, just to get it look simple at the begining, makes it hard and limited in options!

@Unkl_Bob "There spacs wich seam to contradict in your talking point." As a non native English speaker I head to put that sentence into a translator to understand, I guess you are British, Americans don't speak that elaborate. 😆
I don't give a damm if my statement are not that coherent, because I want to see some quality arguments about the topic, and if you don't understand the technicalities that I just scratch, IDGAF.
Yea, I don't like this engine as a internal combustion engine.
Because I can see all the new problems that come with that constitution, and I think it's not woth it, it's just a noble approach.
Don't get me wrong I am not the most knowledgeable person on that topic, but given the lack of valid arguments against mine make me wana push the finger deeper in the wound! 😈
For a little test, what is the shape of a piston in a modern engine like?
As a hint, it's not a cylinder. 😉
And why?

I am not gona lie! I won´t watch the Video and don´t have to!
Storing Hydrogen in any (Solid) makes absolutly no sense!!!
Every Solid u can use to store Hydrogen must be higher in mass than the stored hydrogen in it! also the densety can´t get nearly as close as in highly compressed gas form or liquid! It just cant, and is lousy from the get go!!!
And you lose energy by storeing and releaseing it, that could be a little bit better than just compressing it into a liquid, but mostly in smaller aplications where its not viable to constantly recycle the heat to reduce loses.
The only thing that comes close to this idea and can practicly work, is to put a small percentage of Hydrogen into the gas grid.
This just works for relativ small amount without decrecing the densety of the other gases to much.
Hydrogen isen´t the solution to everthing anyway! In aplications like steelmaking as a substitute for coke and other chemical aplications it works good and is already in use.
But as a generell Energy storage medium, pure hydrogen is not the best choice!
Storing and transporting hydrogen in compressed forme is not a problem, its the production!!! Its inefficient, and there is not much hope to get around it!
All that "uh thats the future" bulshit is the same for hydrogen as for batteries, getting the charge out of the battery and converting it into work is highly efficent, but making the batterie and getting the energy into it, is the problem that is out of sight of all those idiot that think this is the solution to our energy problem!!
There is no single solution, and there will be no big revolutionary inventions anymore, we pretty much have figured out the bulck of it!
Every technology hase it´s place and for the most part is already in use in it!
And there is no big revolution needed, at least not in a technological way!!!!
We humans have to adapt to live without fosile fules, we just don´t do it already because most of us are to lazy, to cheap, and won´t sacrifice a little bit on there wastefull lifestyles!!
Stop buing new cars every 3 years, stop buying new smartphones every 2 years, your consumption behavior is what dictates how crapy and cheap a car is build, and thus how much energy is needed for its completet life cycle!
🤮 I hate humanaty!!!!!!

Aufpassen!

Völlig krank was hier läuft!
Diese Rechtsverdreher die nur Geld im Sinn haben gehören aufgeknüpft!
Vor kurzem was ähnlich dämliches erlebt....

No, I don't think this will ever take off! (pun intended)
There is a multitude off practical things that are hard to come around.
Durability is one thing you might get sorted out, but the biggest problem is, you won't get the same powers for the same airspace occupied by a single machine!
Conventional turbines use there whole rotor diameter, those flying wings can't do that even if they try really hard!
No mater how good your wind is, you can't make up for the unused wind area of those kites!
Even worse, it scales real bad, get the think even higher up, you need even more space to fly it. You would need multiple wings flying coordinated side by side to get the same coverage, and seeing them having trouble with a single wing, I can't imagine having them fly multiple ones 10-30 meters apart from each other!
Nore this being any more economical.
Conventional turbines are just too low hanging fruits! 🤷

Problem is that EGRs add alot of complexity and failure points to a car, and in alot of cases cause more harm then they prevent.
NOx emissions from engines are just theoretically high, in practice the amount of NOx coming of cars is negligible for humans. Alot of emission values dictated in laws are insanely low because the idiots dictating them have no clue what the are doing.
For example, here in europ today sold cars need to have less then 50mg of NOx per kilometer.
Let's say we drive 50kmh with a 2liter NA diesel engine that makes for 2,4 cubic meters of air pumped through the engine, that makes less then 25mg of NOx per cubic meter of pure exhaust! Generell limit for what's is considered (harmless) is 40mg /cubic meter NOx in the air you breathe.... and over 1km of driving, there is a hack of alot more air to dilute those exhausts!
In the other way around, to reach those insane numbers, efficiency of modern engines is considerably worse then they where in the late 90s early 2000s!
My 1986 Mercedes w201 takes around 7-9 l/100km my 2018 hyundai i30 takes 6,8 l/100km. That's a realy shitty improvement for 30 years of development if you asked me!
The 1,9TDI VW Golf My father head ran with just 4 l/100km of diesel, but that was one of the "bad" engines that got taxed to the moon for being so bad in emissions! 😠

@DoubleoP Yea, but those better times lead to this mindset!
My parent's are the worse with resource management...
They lived in the Golden age!
And they are still voting for those idiots that make up our govermant, that promise unrealistic things by convincing them with further wealth at the cost of next generations!
The overcompensation of that in coming generations might lead to the next world War and some genocides!
We should cut down on some points, stop war, and sit down on the table together.
But if a global war starts again, I will have learned Russian!
I don't mind immigrants, but all the muslims AND the Ukranian ones do a bad impression on me!
I just head a Ukranian couple in the Grocery store in front of me, arguing with the Cashier about the price on there bag of meat. A Russian behind me Intervernate and Translated, they just weren't happy with the price that was clearly written on the bag.... The Russian just shuck his head after this. The bag of meat was left on the counter... Since is was individually packaged for them, the bag of meat head to be thrown away for hygienic reasons!
I asked him what just heaped, he just answered, he hoped to get away from this kind of people but now they are here!
I don't fully understand, but those kind of people are clearly not what I like, and what Russians like.

I make my own lights for years now.
I hate most commercially available lights out there because the die because of overdriven led´s or crappy power suplies, and have poor color rendering index!
The light temperature is not the most importent part for me, of cause it should be the right temperature for the usecase, but for me the most annoying part of bad lamps are the CRI!!!!
Most commercially lights/bulbs are awful in that regard.
Everything looks unnatural and it feels always off.
I realized this as i tryed different bulbe replacements and couldent find any that made me happy, and than i used a defragmentation gradient to look at the colors, and there it struck me.
Every damm bulb, head horendesly narow bands in spectrum...
I started and serched for good led´s and tryed good ones (sadly just the big chinese Manufacturer sell these to mortals)
And the cree and nichia ones with a CRI´s of 85, 90 and 98 are such a huge difference to all that crap Philips and co. selling!!!
I have a wire system with 5 lights in my living room, with 7W each, at 3000k and a CRI of 90, and spot reflectors on them.
Not that they just use all together just as much power as one halogen lamp they replace by making the exact same light and color.
But they also now last for 5 years and i expcat them to last the next 15 also!

I am also 35, head just one real serious relationship with a girl and two nearly ones.
Not worth it!
I would like to have a family, but not with those hormone steared psychos!
The one I was over a year with was 18 an I was 22 at the time, she was a absolutely gorgeous specimen of a girl, and also my best non male friend at the time, whe where together every day for a year, talked about absolute everything out of our deepest soul to each other... The Sex was 🤤👌 But sometimes she just got bonkers! Called me names, constructed conspiracies and shitt...
After a while I stopped to react to here nonsense. Then she broke up with me, still good friends, no sharedes anymore, still good Sex after the next guy she dated turned out to be a dud... And after a very nice night together we talked and she asked if I still love her, and I said yes, she broke every contract with me and also every common friend! I saw here ones by chance, and I wanted to say hello and she ignored me as if I wasn't there. Since then I dated two other girls and we got more intimate and they showed the exact same behavior.... those times I stopped it, but left them a clear explanation why I do!
Now I have no ambitions to date woman anymore!
I go Mountainbiking with the boyz, build my Projekt cars, build and fly model aircraft with friends, smoke weed and in general just do what I want!
And earn a shit load of money as a technician... All for me, Fuck off woman! 🖕
