  2. Why is it that when anybody wants to invalidate a philosophy, they say it has roots in platonism? Even if the given philosophy/ideology/or even religion doesn't really have anything to do with platonism. Not making a judgement, simply a pattern I've noticed.

  6. ​ @oscartang4587u3  this kind of logic has a major flaw though. What is water but a collection of individual molecules of hydrogen and oxygen? By this same logic, nothing really exists except the most basic fundamental objects, quarks, which are little more than puffs of infinitesimal energy. When you touch a physical object, you aren't really touching it, it is simply the cumulative electrical resistance of the electrons in your hand and in the object. So does "solid" really exist? Yes of course it still does. Saying cities or other things are "jUsT sOcIaL cOnStRuCts" is really at the core of it a meaningless statement, uttered by people that basically don't believe in anything.
