Often the reason for euthanising a pet is ultimately that you can't afford further treatment. And that gets applied to humans as well. It becomes a cheaper option for the government than treatment.

Euthanasia is designed to be a slippery slope. Let it into your law for any cases and you will have it for all. In my country we saw what happened when SSM became law, it went from claiming it was only about love, to the sexualisation and the transitioning of children as soon as it became legal.

@NorfolkSceptic I agree and I've said as much. SSM was another slippery slope in my country recently.

@TheDailyGroov The lunatic fringe is not discrediting the topic, they are merely telling you honestly what they will do when it's in their power to do so.

The problem is it's a slippery slope, once legal it is used to reduce the states responsibility for health care. I've seen this happen in several states and countries.

My first thought.

@rebeccaconlon9743 Pet insurance doesn't cover much.

@robbie_ Where is this ruled out ? And how long did the ruled out, survive? As I said I've witnessed it happen in other places such as Canada.

@ianramage1593 The lunatics are already in charge, that's why nobody in charge can define a woman. I saw it happen with SSM in my country. As soon as the ink dried they were sexualising children in school, and transitioning children. In some states parents face a ten year jail sentence for praying a child with gender dysphoria recovers. Euthanasia would be the same I'm sure.

@jenniferbate9682 I assure you in my country it is the usual reason. Especially if the pet is old and doesn't have many years to make expensive treatments seem worthwhile.

@DerpBane You have a lot of faith in your government and health services. As an Australian I have zero trust in either. In 2020 we had less deaths than usual. But since jabs were forced on the people an excess of 30,000 a year. And you believe governments will ensure that they don't use euthanasia injections for their own purposes. I'm shocked that such naiveness still exists in the world.
1
@robbie_ So you should be able to end your life because you broke your leg and you're in dreadful but temporary pain ?
1
@robbie_ What is specifically ruled out ? Not much from what I hear from across the world. I'm watching the states in my country where it's legal very carefully. So far it's restricted to the greedy children of the elderly putting some pressure on.
1
@robbie_ But in practice this includes suffering mental illness, or being restricted to a wheelchair. Despite the person being physically healthy, and having no physical pain. Douglas Murray described a case in a Nordic country, where a woman who was depressed was transitioned to a man. His depression increased, and he was more depressed, as he was unhappy with the result. He was transitioned back to a woman. And her depression increased, so they euthanized her.

@robbie_ Well in my mind it is the government saving oney on treatment and services by killing its own citizens. Having suffered a long period of depression in my teens, including suicidal thoughts, I'm damned glad this evil nonsense didn't exist in my country. It's the same protocol as murdering a perfectly healthy full term baby, it takes two doctors to sign. Future generations will judge these things as more horrendous than slavery is viewed today.
