No fault divorce has been a dreadful mistake, it harms men, especially men who are the father's of young children. Fortunately not me, but it also harms middle aged women. A man can use joint assets to attract a younger replacement. If the young woman falls pregnant the wife will be taken to the cleaners and the adult children largely disinherited. In Australia there is an ethnicity of women famous for doing this. We need to end no fault divorce, and return to the previous system. In the meantime I advise people to return to contract law in marriage. Both parties signing a contract on how things should be settled in the case of divorce.

 @JosephusAurelius I second that. If I have to live in the Middle Ages I'll do it on my terms, and not in their fifteen minute cities.

I'm Australian and the role of the productive wife /mother was still strong in the 1970s, in my case the 90s and beyond. We grew and preserved fruit and vegetables, kept poultry, and mended clothes. As I witnessed it, it was 1970s feminists who destroyed it, they promised to elevate the housewife, but threw them under the bus in favour of career women.

@Macheako That's an interesting thought. Government schools are on the nose at the moment. The sexualisation of children, gender fluidity, CRT etc. Private Christian schools are preferred even if you are poor. Recently I met a woman who had given her ex husband primary custody of her eldest because he could afford her school fees. Homeschooling is the other alternative, should a parent who homeschools receive more child support?

@Mrs_Homemaker The "brainwashed" narrative came much later. In the 1980s a labor government introduced a payment to married mothers who didn't work. The current Labor government is introducing free childcare to assist families. The outcome has completely reversed.

The only decent Labor government in Australia ,(possibly the only decent Prime Minister ever) recognised that welfare for single mothers was destroying the family. In the 1980s they introduced an allowance paid to married mothers who didn't work. Inflation has eroded that to nothing. The current Labor government is introducing free childcare to help families. A complete reversal.
