Sadly my local Australian Anglican church has fallen. I stopped going when they told me not to read the King James Bible, even in private, as it's not inclusive of the LGBT community.

Here in Australia the rot began in 1978 when they modernised the liturgy. I stopped attending when I was told not to read the King James Bible even in private, as it's not inclusive of the LGBT community.

@daisuke6072 It's not the first time the Roman Catholic church has had an antipope.

I'm Australian and my ancestors lived there more than a thousand I'm sure, they've been traced to the 1300s. But you do I hope realise that the Anglican church is much younger than a thousand years.

@ddoherty5956 And as I'm sure you realise, if you lineage is so long and proven, atleast one of your ancestors probably already benifited from the dissolution of the RC church. I know in my family's case one of my ancestors was Henry 7 favourite tailor. From this marriage he became related to the Howard family which produced Ann Bolyn and Katherine Howard. He was rewarded with some monastery land. Using this he married a woman whose family claimed descendancy from Charlemagne. I disregard this as I modestly understand that in the Tudor times people made outrageous claims. A child of this marriage suffered an arranged marriage to an elderly man. As a widow she married by choice a man with a single manor house in Cornwall. And had two more surviving children. But by 1850 they were working class. Running a rented farm, and supplementing the farms income with working in mines. I'll say one thing for them though, despite growing up before free education the family was always literate. In circa 1850, three brothers, along with their wives and children emigrated to Australia, NZ and South America. So tell me what your ancestors did for a thousand years ?

@stpeterscooksriver1873 Lucky for Sydney. It used to be okay years ago when I was in Queensland, but I live there or NSW yet.

@Kitiwake There have been periods during the Middle Ages when popes would be called this. Sometimes they would declare another as pope. It's not to do with whether he's anointed, it's more to do with whether the majority of RCs like him.

@joekey8464 I hope you are right, my local RC school is looking into genderless uniforms that makes me think they too will fall to modernity.

@joekey8464 It will happen, at the moment it is being done under the guise of empowering girls, but the subtext is by forcing girls to wear the boys uniform, they are really doing it to prevent boys wearing the girls uniform, which they might see as a greater sin. In Australia the churches are in a dreadful legal situation. When the conservative government introduced same sex marriage, they promised a religion bill exempting churches and church schools from needed to comply with LGBT discrimination laws. But the government broke it's promise. I know of two cases where men have been arrested for having a Bible in public, as the mere presence is insulting to the LGBT community. ( Funny they never come after Muslims) There is currently a ten year jail sentence for even praying that a child suffering gender dysphoria recovers.
