But you rejected Christianity in large numbers. Your churches are often empty. And your schools are nolonger Christian. You left a vacuum. And vacuums get filled. I say this from someone in a country with similar problems. All the average person can do at this stage is go to church, and insist it is respected in schools. Start plugging the gaps and vacuums. Make Christianity the faith your politicians fear to offend.

Australia is further along. Our immigration is higher per capita. And our last census shows that if you have a grandparent born in the country, even one, you are a minority and your vote doesn't matter.

 @sfrwriter in Australia I once had to type my own x-ray referral. My mistake perhaps, I'd gone to what my husband and I call "first available." That's the free doctor with no waiting time.

@sfrwriter That used to be the expectation. Indeed Australia federated in 1901 to enact the White Australia Immigration Policy, which came with a strict English test, and to concentrate on building a navy. Neither of which they have done for decades. In 1973, the policy changed to multiculturalism. Government signage became written in multiple languages and there was no legal requirement to know English. It was slow to be noticed. Where I lived it was 1986 before I met anyone who was not of European or Aboriginal heritage. As to English tests after 1973, the government can use them or not they are nolonger required. Where I live most doctors charge $30 plus the medicare payment, so if they don't they are pretty dodgy.
