  3. Well said. I would add two things. In Australia and New Zealand, adult men and women got the vote at the same time, without any feminist "fight." I would argue women in Britain got the vote inspite of the suffragettes not because of. Before the 1960s Marxists were concerned the people would not overthrow the means of production. In 1950 in Britain a book was published on the subject. It lamented that working people were too comfortable. It concluded that it wouldn't happen whilst people had access to affordable electricity, which was a source of their comfort. It said there needed to be a global reason to deprive people of affordable electricity. Climate change?
