My Great Grandfather survived five years in an Allied POW camp. He was twenty when he taken prisoner at Dunkirk. During the five years in the camp he became fluent in German and was allowed to send postcards home. He said the worst part was the constant hunger and if it hadn’t been for the Red Cross parcels he wouldn’t have survived. He said the German guards stole the chocolate out of the parcels. The German guards were middle aged men and not SS. They were ok as long as you obeyed the rules which everyone did. Near the end of the war he woke up one morning and the German guards were gone.

To Gilad Ehre ..I agree, it doesn’t compare to the Holocaust. The horrific atrocities committed in concentration camps were shocking. My Great Grandfather survived five years in an Allied POW camp. There is too much film footage after the war to prove it did happen.

Has anyone visited Auschwitz? Thinking of going but not sure if it would be too harrowing.
1
The actual footage after the war was horrific….

@Meandme710 Who were communists?
1
@Meandme710 No, I have never seen the amount of communist deaths in the labor camps by the Red Cross. Where did you find that information and was it a lot?

The native Americans weren’t used for human experiments and gassed.

@Junkmailcrusades My Grandma told me that they were happy in the Reservations and that they were looked after. Although the history books tell a different story.
1
@Junkmailcrusades I think the reason the Jews were persecuted was because they excelled at everything and held a lot of wealth.
1
@Junkmailcrusades The Jews seem to create wealth through having successful businesses, a wealthy nation is a prosperous nation. I would rather have Jews than people from third world countries , who want to live on benefits.
